3 BR 3 BA 3100 sq ft home on 2.5 acres, adjacent to forest with mountain views
This house is perfect for large family or multi-family getaways. Lots of space for gathering, whether it's the outdoor deck, spacious great room, dining table, the upstairs loft, or the climbing wall bedroom. Beautiful weather year-round. Walk 10 minutes and you're on a forest trail! Great for skiing and winter sports. It's only 5 minutes to the Snow Bowl turnoff, and opposite the heavy traffic so you're home in no time!
The amazing view of the San Francisco Peaks captivated me and my family. The location is one mile from the entrance to the Arizona Snow Bowl, 3 miles from the Wing Mountain Sledding area, 7 miles from cross country skiing, 7 miles from downtown Flagstaff, 65 miles from the Grand Canyon, one block from forest hiking and mountain bike trails, 2 hours from Lake Powell and Phoenix
Besides it's convenient location to the many fun listed destinations and the panoramic view of the San Francisco Peaks, the house is very family and kid friendly. With a climbing wall in the second upstairs bedroom, a full size electronic game box (includes pac man) a fooseball table, an air hockey table, a dart board, horseshoes, a ping pong table, books to read, or movies to watch, there are plenty of activities to keep family members busy.
This house is gorgeous, with plenty of space for our group of 6 mothers and 6 pre-teen daughters. The open kitchen was great for cooking in small groups. The location was perfect - out of town, but not so far that we couldn't run in if needed - and the acreage gave us a wonderful feeling of privacy and seclusion. Our girls enjoyed the foosball and air hockey tables, spreading out in the multiple living areas, and watching prairie dogs off the back porch. We do suggest that the owner purchase more dinnerware so that a house that is advertised to sleep 12 can also serve 12 at one meal; we brought paper plates and were glad we did.
However, this house has one major flaw, and that is poor property management. The toilet in the upstairs master became plugged in the first five minutes of our stay. We called it in to the property manager immediately, but she said no one was available to deal with the problem until the next day. Even when the toilet overflowed onto the floor and into the bathroom below it, she insisted that she only had one handyman, he was busy, and she could not send anyone until the next day. Now, keep in mind we had feces water in two bathrooms and the drywall between them, one bathroom left to use between the 12 of us, and the smell of raw sewage spreading throughout the house. We had to argue with her to call a 24-hour plumber. She suggested that we had caused the damage to the house ourselves by purposely plugging the toilet, and threatened to withhold our security deposit and charge us for the emergency plumber and cleaning service.
This is not just poor customer service for renters. It is poor care of the owner's house. This house may now need expensive repairs which could have been avoided had the property manager sent someone out immediately when we called her the first time, as it is her job to do.
Despite the problems we had, we enjoyed the house itself, and found it ideal for our needs. We would definitely rent it again if the owner decides to employ a different property manager.
As others have stated, this house is big, beautiful, and fully stocked! It was hard to get the kids to leave the house because they had so much fun playing foosball, riding bikes and looking for prairie dogs. The location is perfect, quiet and private, yet only 10 minutes from downtown. We will definitely stay here again!
Grandchildren, parents and grandparents.....9 of us in all had a wonderful getaway from the Valley heat! We enjoyed just hanging out at the property, playing with the kids, hiking down into the Lava River Cave twice with everyone! We drove into Flagstaff to get groceries on a few occasions seeing a herd of about 45 Elk in a meadow beside the road! The property had enough room for adults and kids to enjoy without overlapping spaces. It rained some, but was such a refreshing change. It was very nice to be away from other properties so we didn't have to worry about noise (ours or theirs). The location was easy to find and was just like the pictures. We had planned to take in more activities in and around Flagstaff, but found the property to be so very relaxing with games for the kids that we didn't venture out much. The grandkids played video games, foosball and air hockey. We did go out to eat in Flagstaff at a few of their restaurants (Oregano's, Olive Garden, and McDonalds for grandkids, of course. We strongly recommend giving the property a try. We plan to be back next year!
We had a great weekend at this cabin. You cant beat the location, its less than a mile from Snowbowl road. We arrived on friday to a well lit and inviting home and got settled in. Saturday morning we awoke to a beautiful view of the peaks out of the living room window. There were what appeared to be Elk tracks in the snow on the front lawn, and lots of bunny tracks as well. Again being so close to snowbowl road was the best. we didnt have to rush out of the house to try and get their before the rush. After a long day of snowboarding the Steam room shower and jaccuzzi tub really helped with the relaxation. We are already talking about a trip next season. We would love to stay here again.
