About John Horner
John and Pat spent several years in the restoration of main house, little house, and gardens. But the children are gone and we now have a lot of space to spare. John grew up in the home as did his mother, grandmother, and Gr Grandmother.
Why John Horner chose Walnut Street
This little house is owned by John and Pat Horner who also own the main house. John is a 5th generation owner of this historic home built by Dr. & Mrs. Walter Camp in 1886. The Little House was the servant's residence.

Cozy little house
We had a nice anniversary weekend at the little house. Such a cozy little place! Very home like and had everything we needed. Owners are super sweet people, would highly recommend 😊
The location was good. Very close to lots of shops. Parking was convenient. The garden seemed like it hadn't been taken care of in a long time & did not look like the pictures. I wasn't aware that the bedroom was part of the kitchen/ living room, similar to a studio apartment. It was charming & quaint, small but that was fine for just me. The interior was a bit run down. The shower really needs improvement. It's very small & it's difficult to use. My biggest complaint was the kitchen. My intention was to cook for my daughter for Thanksgiving but the kitchen was so I'll equipped that could not happen. There were no dishes, only a handful of random utensils, and no real cooking equipment. And the refrigerator was a small refrigerator like you'd find in a college dorm room. I'd pick this place again if the shower situation were changed & with the expectation that I couldn't really use the kitchen for much unless I bring my own dishes, etc.
I totally loved the tiny house experience! Thanks John !
Cutest little house. Decorated w antiques etc
Shower was a bit tight but was ok for me. My husband would not have liked it But for me it was perfect. And close to campus was important also as I was attending my granddaughters sorority initiation . Wish I could have seen the garden in bloom it must be fantastic !!!!!❤️❤️❤️
We enjoyed our stay at "The Little House." The cottage is well cared for and the yard was beautiful. We had many activities to keep us busy during the day, so we did not mind the size of the cottage. We road the Frisco Highline Trail from Springfield to Bolivar and looked forward to returning each evening to the cottage. Although the cottage is compact, we were able to store our bikes overnight inside as well. We enjoyed our mini adventure and hope to return soon.
Great Tiny Getaway!
This was one of our favorite stays! We really enjoyed the bed, very soft and comfortable. The location was wonderful and was easy to get in and out of. We definitely will keep this on our return soon list!
What a cute, homey place! Not for the very tall or very large, but very comfortable and quiet. I loved it.
