About Julie Sardie
Hey y’all, my name is Julie Sardié, the 2012-2013, “Zydeco Queen of South West Louisiana” and fifth-generation Creole native of New Orleans, Louisiana. I’m the former chef and owner of Café Chardonnay, a Downtown New Orleans Creole restaurant and wine bar. As an additional service, I can prepare a variety of mouthwatering traditional Creole delicacies such as Jambalaya, Crawfish Biscue, Shrimp Etouffee, Red Beans and Rice, Boiled or Fried Seafood, Creole Filé Gumbo, Stuffed Crabs and much more. As a Restauranteur, Oenophile and Sommelier, I’m experienced in the art of food and wine paring ensuring a truly extraordinary Creole dining experience. And if dancing is your thing, Zydeco dancing lessons and a night on the town are available upon request, with me—the official “Zydeco Queen of South West Louisiana.” “Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler!”
Julie Sardie purchased this House in 2011
Why Julie Sardie chose Opelousas
This property is centrally located in Opelousas and easily accessible to I-49 and I-10 the two major highways in this area. This property is also close to Lafayette, Breaux Bridge, Crowley, Alexandria and Cane River. All of these towns have historically famous festivals throughout the year. Breaux Bridge has the legendary Crawfish Festival, Lafayette has Festival Internationale and Acadiane et Creole Fesitvals, Crowley has the big Rice Festival and Cane River is famous for their Christmas Celebration on the River. Cane River was the location of the filming of the movies Magnolia Steele and Fried Green Tomatoes. It is a very quaint warm spirited town of Creoles.
What makes this House unique
I chose this property because of the size of the property and the amenities included. The tennis court is professional size and there are peaceful areas all over to sit and relax. When I saw this property the huge pine trees that lined up on both sides of the house took my breath away. Also the City of Opelousas is the third oldest city in Louisiana and the culture and history is so immense its going to take many years for me to absorb. There is a fully furnished pool house with stand-up ice chest, a bar, 2 fans, table with 6 chairs, sofa and 2 chairs We also have catering on the premises by Jazzy Affairs, a top notch catering services that provides anything your heart desires.

Amazing and beautiful place in Opelousas!
We rented Julie's beautiful house for a family birthday. WOW - what an amazing property. every amenity was perfect - pool, tennis, house, outdoor space. The owner is delightful and her sweet dog even made friends with our usually old cranky pup; they played outside together. This was a fabulous get-away and very convenient to any of the areas you care to visit nearby: we went to Fred's in Mamou, Sunset for dinner, Washington to check out antiques. We will definitely be back in the future!
Great for a family reunion!
We found the perfect home to have a Turkey Day Familiy reunion. Felt like home from the minute we walked in. Extremely spacious, comfortable beds and bedding, large kitchen and gathering area. Owner, Julie Sardie catered our Thanksgiving and it was a wonderful New Orleans style feast. If you come you must at least have her make you a pot of her outstanding gumbo. Best we've ever tasted. Lots to do on property: tennis, pool, outdoor seating areas and a large front yard to support a game of frisbee. If you ask the 10 year old in our group what his favorite thing after the tennis court he would say it was the "gong" in the dining room. You'll just have to rent the home to view it!
While photos are beautiful, the property exceeded our expectations. A beautiful property; meticulously maintained; well appointed kitchen; very comfy beds; fenced dog kennel with dog house. Thank you, Julie, for your charming southern hospitality. We have already recommended to family and friends. We will be back.
Our stay was delightful. Julie's home is comfortable and thoughtfully arranged. We enjoyed coffee on the porch and martinis in the livingroom. Her tips on places to eat were spot-on. It was very relaxing and we had fun discovering the surrounding area.
Traveler from North Louisiana
This was a lovely place to spend a few days. Large and very comfortable, within a short distance of many wonderful restaurants and attractions. The owner is a lovely person to deal with and helpful with anything you could inquire about. My party stayed here during the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival and we loved every minute. Hopefully we can return again next year. I would recommend staying at this beautiful home to any and everyone.
Perfect stay in Cajun Country
We brought my mother in law and her husband on a trip to Louisiana. The six of us enjoyed New Orleans for a few days then rounded out our stay with a visit to Cajun country. Once we arrived at the house we were made to feel right at home. One of the highlights of the property for us was the tennis court. Five out of the six in my party played for quite a while that first day. It was Easter weekend and Miss Julie offered to make us Easter dinner on Sunday, which was delicious! We spent the entire rainy Easter sunday lounging around the house and eating yummy leftovers. The house is large with many comfortable sofas and chairs, as well as a porch. It was easy to get comfortable in this house and you are never in anyone's way! The 3 bedrooms are close together and two share a bathroom from two separate doors. The beds are quite high from the floor giving the Disney fairytale touch to the bedrooms. Miss Julie recommended a few restaurants which were gems. She was so accommodating and very welcoming. Really great visit to Opelousas, Lafayette and Breaux Bridges.
This property is located in a small city, the third oldest in Louisiana. The culture and history here bring tourists from all over the world. There are markets and music, zydeco dancing, Evangeline downs horse racing. Activities associated with cultural festivals, boucheries and more.
