4 Bedroom- 2 Bath. Modern 3400 sq ft home SLEEPS 8 COMFORTABLY

Perched on a hillside with breathtaking views overlooking the Ganges harbour and the Gulf Islands & Mt. Baker looming in the horizon to the South. A large sitting deck in the trees provides a gathering place for meals or just an afternoon of lounging in the sun. The patio just outside the kitchen has cozy garden furniture and is a great place to gather out of the sun and enjoy Allison's rock garden. This home is extremely private in a quiet family neighborhood. We discourage bachlorette or stag parties. This house provides plenty of spacious locations for privacy for small or large gatherings. It's a real cozy home for multiple families, inter-generational and family re-unions and special occasions like weddings, birthdays and anniversaries. You can even bake a cake in the oven. We re-modeled the home completely in 2012 featuring new luxury beds and linens; comfy modern Livingroom furnishings and all new appliances. The main floor (1800 sq. ft.) has a large spacious well stocked kitchen for you foodies and a kitchen table that will seat 10. We bought new appliances, cutlery for 10, a large array of pots & pans, spices and staples like flour, sugar and ketchup and mustard. We provide a modern propane BBQ on the patio just outside the kitchen door. There's even a 2 person bistro set on a small patio overlooking the property just off the kitchen for you to watch the sunrise over the Gulf Islands with your morning coffee. The Master Bedroom has a luxury KING BED and en-suite 4 pc. bath. Mom loved her tub baths so we have left the working claw-foot bath-tub on the private enclosed deck for you to soak away your problems. A spacious sunken living room with a propane fireplace and comfy seating for 8 is a great gathering spot for all. We have 120 channels (Shaw cable) on our flatscreen TV, a DVD player and a good old fashioned retro stereo and turntable to listen to classic records from the 50's and 60's. You'll enjoy the free high speed wifi internet throughout the house and we have another TV upstairs with a DVD player for the kids. The house has dark hardwood floors with some carpets throughout the main floor and each bedroom has carpeted flooring. Three bedrooms upstairs (2 Queen Rooms, 1 with Twin Beds) & 3Pc. bathroom upstairs. Ocean views from every room. Sleeps up to 8 comfortably but for guest 9 & 10, we can supply a queen air bed and linens for free in the upstairs foyer for more bed space if needed.

If you need more room, or more privacy, we have an unadvertised 5th bedroom in the lower basement level. This suite has a new Queen bed (2016) for guests 9 &10. We charge an additional occupancy/cleaning fee of $125.00 per booking. This is a self contained level which has a 3 pc bathroom and a spacious sunroom with million dollar views as well. This space is only available when specifically requested - otherwise it is locked off and not occupied by any other guests. There are 6 photos of the basement suite. Our parents built this charming home in 1975 for their retirement and upon their passing we all had such pleasant times and memories of Salt Spring that we decided we should allow others to experience the unique warmth and rest of Allison (our dear mother) House as it became known.

We have kept the name in her honor.

Amazing views of the Gulf Islands, Mt. Baker off in the horizon - the quiet serenity of living in the forest. Walking distance (2 miles) or a short car trip from the largest village (Ganges) on the island. A number of great gathering spots on the property (living room, kitchen, three outside decks) for large or small groups.

The upstairs bathroom serves the three bedrooms with a toilet, sink and smaller bathtub and handheld shower. The third 3 pc bathroom in the basement is included when the suite is rented to you by separate request.

Sorry but because this is a family home, we deter any large party groups such as stagettes or bachlorettes. Our neighbors are nearby and appreciate the peace and quiet.

Family Christmas

My family and I were fortunate enough to have found this lovely home on Salt Spring Island. We were looking for a comfortable and spacious home for our large family of adult children to spend Christmas together this year. It was all that we had expected from the VRBO description; we were able to relax by the fire and enjoy home cooked meals in the well equipped kitchen. This home is nestled in a bushland setting and provides panoramic views from every window. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were spacious and carefully decorated.

Greg was quick to respond to my questions and wasted no time making sure that all of our needs were met. We certainly appreciated that Greg, thank you very much.

A great time was had by all.

Serene and comfortable

There is not a day since our stay that I haven't reflected on our trip to Salt Spring Island and wished that I was back there looking out the living room window at the gorgeous view! The beds were comfortable and the kitchen adequately equipped. We had a wonderful family reunion and enjoyed the island and all it has to offer. The farmers market, restaurants, winery, brewery, shops, charter boats and hiking trails are all an easy drive from this home. There were a few things worth mentioning that were unexpected but we managed: The driveway was difficult but we learned to back in so we weren't backing onto a street blindly, the exterior of the house facing the water could use some hand rails, and the upstairs bathroom has a tub with shower however the wall is sloped so the only way to shower was to sit in the tub. The management was quick to respond to minor repairs and to refill the grill tank so we could enjoy our fresh caught salmon. All in all, we would come back.

Salt Spring Island Alison House

The house we booked "Alison House" on Salt Spring was a perfect fit for our family stay. The house was clean, spacious and well stocked with everything we needed. We loved the view from the patio of Active pass and Long Harbour as we relaxed and visited watching the ferries come and go. The owner was accommodating and gracious. Would stay here again if we ever come back.

The island is approx. 22 miles long and 4-5 miles wide and named after the salt water springs at the islands' north end. Steeped in history, the ambiance is much like an English countryside with many local famous artists and skilled craftspeople holding open studio tours. A renowned local farmer's and craft market (not to be missed) every Saturday. Local vineyard tours & wine tasting as well as amazing goat cheeses and soap works- the list is endless!

The locals are almost too friendly!
