Dog-friendly oceanfront retreat close to great Northern Oregon attractions!

Bedrooms 1
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

House, 1 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, Sleeps 4

This cozy one-bedroom Arch Cape vacation studio sits on a bluff overlooking the Pacific, making for a wonderfully romantic and affordable oceanfront retreat!

Just minutes from hiking in Oswald West State Park, gallery-hopping in Cannon Beach, and beach combing in Manzanita, there are few better spots to enjoy peace, privacy, and all the attractions of the northern Oregon Coast.

Please be aware that if the other half of this unit is available as a separate booking during the off-season, so you may be sharing the deck with other guests. If you need more space, consider renting the two-bedroom main house, or reserve the entire property for guaranteed privacy and up to eight guests.

This suite is part of a larger ranch-style home, but completely separate and makes a fantastic getaway on its own merit! Sliding glass doors provide panoramic views, and invite you to step out to the deck for fresh ocean air first thing in the morning. The living area has a TV with DirecTV cable, DVD player, and VCR, as well as a comfortable queen-sized futon with memory foam mattress. This home sleeps up to four guests (two adults maximum), so it's perfect for a young family or a couple's getaway!

The kitchenette is small but nicely equipped, with a mini-fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, and toaster, perfect for preparing light meals and snacks and ideal for reheating that meal "to go" from one of the fancy restaurants in the area. A two-person table offers a nice perch for dining or catching up on work (yes, wireless Internet is provided!)

With modern style and custom artwork, this unique studio retreat is a lovely alternative to overpriced hotel rooms! Its location is hard to beat for those who like peace and quiet as well as convenience; the surrounding village of Arch Cape is sleepy and peaceful, but all the boutiques, galleries, and eateries of Cannon Beach and Manzanita are less than ten minutes in either direction. Of course, the nearby state park is full of hiking trails to explore, picnic tables to enjoy, and has one of the region's best surfing beaches. And since the home is now dog-friendly, you don't need to leave your four-legged family members behind!

In any case, this oceanfront vacation home makes a wonderful home away from home on the Oregon Coast.

Nice location, a few mishaps in the stay, but still a good place to retreat to for a weekend getaway

  • 3 of 5

Good things: Cozy living room, kitchenette gets the job done; morning coffee, fridge for the goodies, extra dishes in case you need them, clean bathroom, clean bed, fluffy soft pillow covers, really liked the sliding doors to the back, & the yard overlooking the ocean.

Bad things: internet DOES NOT work, nor does Verizon cell service, couldn't get the DVD player to sync with the tv, sheets were very coarse and papery (too much bleach), grass in backyard was really high like 8" tall, & neighbor left dog turds all over the yard, key lock was impossible to get back in the wall.

Overall: I would stay again. Hopefully, the kinks get worked out. Liked the privacy of a studio versus a hotel. Great view of the ocean!

Limited expectations

  • 1 of 5

We stayed for two nights with our two kids to find some relaxation. It seems that we got an impression that we have our own porch and backyard space based on pictures, but we found out that we are sharing with other guests- it felt a bit uncomfortable.

The bed seems to be clean, but pillows had some hairs (and the comforter was in a closet on a floor without in a covered bag or some sort.

We had a power outage on our first night( it came back on 7:40 am next morning), and the place quickly lost its temp without having extra blankets- it was cold. Our first night was much challenged due to condition.

The shower water temperature could use an adjustment to get a hot shower-it was set to give a warm water. We felt it was too cold of shower especially we had no heat over night. The temperature remained the same on our second night.

Beautiful location, but not equipped to cook in

  • 4 of 5

The view from the yard is spectacular. The sounds of the ocean were plainly heard from inside, with the door/window open.

Other public access beaches are close by and accessible by short drive (the beach access we walked to was washed out during our visit in February 2017).

If I return, I'll bring a pot and pan for cooking - toaster oven and microwave and double electric burner are your resources, if you want to cook.

A Cozy Treat

  • 5 of 5

I almost don't want to leave this review so that the unit will be available for futurr trips, however it desrrves the recognition. It was the perfect spot for a romantic weekend getaway, close enough to Cannon Beach to easily head into town but a much more secluded vibe being out of the hustle and bustle. The unit is in Oswald State park so the natural beauty is off the charts and the view of the Ocean right from the living room is breathtaking. Couldn't recommend more highly, we'll be back!
