Nice hotel in beautiful setting
4/5Stayed Jun 2017
Staff friendly and welcoming. A little disappointed that our room was over the kitchen and therefore the extractor fans from the kitchen were noisy for a good deal of the time. The room itself was a good size with all the expected facilities. I would have thought that given the size of the room they could have had a king size bed in it rather than a standard double!
The restaurant and bar are very nice and very popular and the beer garden is great.
All in all a lovely couple of days spent here and we would stay here again

if your fussy about cleanliness its not for you. room and bathroom need a good cleaning and decorating. shower was poor and shower head was dirty, as was toilet seat, there was a nice view of horses in fields, which was spoiled by dirty windows, and curtains that had seen better days. On the plus side, although we did not eat there, because it was so busy, the meals looked really good, and we were really annoyed that we missed out on the fish and chips, as the fish was enormous, and looked really tasty batter. Connor and the rest of staff were really impressive with there knowledge of the drinks on sale, and were more than happy to explain about various wines and spirits in bar, even though I had been in licensed trade for most of my life, I still was impressed by the enthusiasm of all the staff. The weekend we were there, the whole place was really busy, but I never heard or seen any of the staff look grumpy or unhappy. We will return, if we are allowed, and hope you manage to retain your staff, as they were superb.

Smashing country pub
4/5Stayed May 2017
A great weekend getaway in Northumbria was added too by the fact that we arrived on Northumbria day and the pubs grounds were full of stalls stage events and a Hog roast.
Excellent friendly smiling staff, but then that is the North East for you, ask for anything and the answer is always the same, "nay problem pet".
The pub restaurant offered a splendid menu and the cod, with chips and peas looked like it had just been landed by Captain Ahab, talk about "Moby Dick".
My only small complaint was the comfort of the bed, but hey, we could put up with that for 2 nights when everything else was so good.
Breakfast is served in The Salt Water Cafe just a few yards across the lane beside the beautiful old church, and what a joy! The best bacon I have tasted since I was a lad growing up the grandson of a country butcher. When I commented on this to the staff they tried to find me the name of the supplier ............... helpful as always. But as we departed the manageress or owner, I'm not sure which, appeared with a small parcel ............. the delightful bacon rashers! "Have a proper Northumbrian breakfast when you get home". She said with a grand smile. Proper Folk!

Craster Arms Experiance
3/5Stayed Mar 2017
Room was a little noisy due to being over kitchen extractor units. Fridge in room was also noisy adding to the difficulty of a good nights sleep . No bath only corner shower which was not designed for the larger frame and being electric meant that water pressure in this case was poor . We didn't realise that breakfast was not served in the Craster Arms where we were sleeping but in the café over the road which was part of the same business.
