Deb and I love family, friends, entertaining, wine, food, traveling & Washington State University Cougars! Go Cougs:) Our family consists of two great active boys ages 10 & 12. In the nature of full disclosure our house at times can be a neighborhood hub filled with kids/neighbors, BBQ's and pop by's from friends or family. We entertain frequently however we also will respect our guests privacy.

For as long as I can remember growing up we had guests staying in our family home. Our guests ranged from students abroad to friends needing a place to stay.

Our favorite places to travel are Napa Valley (wine), Whistler (ski) and Maui (sun)! We are a very active family always on the go...

Views were awesome! Great place to unwind with the family. The house has everything you can possibly need. Great neighborhood with a great movie theatre near by not to mention the zoo is only a few minutes away.

Quiet neighborhood, Great views, Well appointed unit

We visited Tacoma for a couple of nights to attend a graduation - loved staying here and will definitely stay here again when the need comes. Owners are friendly, accessible and responsive. Built into the hillside above Ruston Way, the views of Commencement Bay are spectacular. The location gives easy no-freeway car access to attractions along the waterfront such as the glass museum and Tacoma Dome as well as stores for basic needs during your stay (Safeway is only a mile away up on N. Proctor St).

We had a little difficulty initially finding the place for a couple of reasons (no fault of the owners) - First, the GPS in our rental car had the location of the house about a half block away from the actual house. Secondly, we were looking on the houses themselves for the house number - in this case, the number is actually on the mailbox post out in front of the house. Thirdly, given the "mother-in-law" description, we made the incorrect assumption that it was going to be a separate building. In reality, the unit is the northern portion of the house itself. This is not a bad thing at all(!) - it's well isolated from the main part of the house - just different from what we envisioned.

Built into the hillside... it's a vertical home like most in the neighborhood. Including the garage, it's three stories (if you choose to park in the garage - we didn't, we parked on the street in front). The "main level" is upstairs, which really takes advantage of the great views - the stairs are great exercise! If stairs aren't for you, an elevator is available.

One restaurant we really enjoyed on the waterfront was The Fish Peddler - smaller, and more intimate than some of the other more obvious and well-known choices like C.I. Shenanigan's.

Everything that was promised... and more!

This was one of the better experiences that I have had while traveling away from home! I ended up staying at this home vy myself and felt very comfortable doing so and very safe. Mark and Deb were so welcoming and their place was just as described, and more! The views were breathtaking and sometimes made it difficult to want to head out for the day. The home has a close proximity to the waterfront and activities there which was an added bonus. I would absolutely stay there again and look forward to the chance to do so! Thanks again!

Excellent Unit, Amazing Views, Well-Appointed, and Tremendous Hospitality

We rented the unit from Mark and Deb for 6 days and it was a tremendous rental; easily the best VRBO experience we have had. Mark and Deb were wonderful hosts, and they were kind enough to let us extend our rental by one night once our plans changed. The pictures don't do the unit justice, and the views are outstanding. We will most certainly be return guests, and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an excellent, clean, extremely well decorated place to stay in the Tacoma area. And be sure to check out the Metropolitan Market just a 8 blocks away; it is like Whole Foods but much better.

Like I never left home

I can't say in words how happy I am with the rental, the owners and my visit to Tacoma. Mark and Deb were gracious hosts from start to finish. The rental is beautiful inside and out. Everything was as pictured and then some. Within walking distance or a short drive from shops and some great beer sampling opportunities. I recommend Peaks and Pints! I worked on my trip and saw lots of the surrounding area. This place is growing and they're doing it right. If you're into jogging or biking, there's a great path along the sound/water. I ran there three times. People were friendly and the area is clean. I look forward to returning for a vacation!
