The Arkansas river, minutes away, presents excellent fly fishing, rafting, and kayaking opportunities. Access to a wide variety of ecosystems on BLM and National Forest land provide hiking, mountain biking, bird watching and many other activities. Zip lines and train rides complement summer fun activities. Monarch Mountain ski area is a mere 25 minutes away. Discount ski tickets can be purchased on the Ski Monarch website. Summer or winter, Salida has much to offer. After a full day of playing outdoors come home and relax. If you still have energy it’s a short trip to the hot springs pool and the recreation center. There are many excellent restaurants and pubs in close proximity.
