***There is much MIS-INFORMATION about this current eruption******
Please stay informed by an internet search for the authorities on the situation such as the USGS, Volcanoes National Park and Civil Defense. This eruption is only effecting a very small part of the island and state of Hawaii. The Big Island is 4, 028 Sq. Miles and according to the USGS less than 10 sq. miles are being impacted by lava flows, gases, and ash.
We understand everyone's confusion with all that's in the news and media. We want to mention that we are not located in any of the areas of concern, and we are not located on the East Rift Zone (which is at the edge of the Kilauea ). We have not had any evacuations, warnings, and are several miles outside of any of these areas.
If you have any questions about our property or location to this activity, feel free to contact us, or we are keeping our guests updated on our Coqui Cottage page with these links.
There's so much to experience on the Hilo side of the island. We love to help you explore it, so we're here to share our recommendations, for anything you want to see or do. We've put together over 30 do-it-yourself sights/activities in our Coqui Day Trip's book.

**Ahalanui Park and Warm Ponds- Experience a naturally heated thermal pond with water up to 90 degrees depending on the tide, free of charge. Located just down the street from the Kopoho tidepools. (25 mins)
