Golfing Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Perfect location to enjoy all that Pinehurst has to offer. Although 100 years old, the house was well appointed & well maintained. Great dining room for leisurely meals after golf. Close to Pinehurst village. Bedrooms a little small, but comfortable. Sun room great for reading, napping, cocktails.

beautiful and charming but only two beds are real beds

  • 4 of 5

House has loads of character and downstairs is very comfortable. It isn't really three bedrooms, as one of the "bedrooms" is more like a nursery or something. The "beds" in that room are actually cots arranged end to end because there is no room to put them anywhere else. I wouldn't have wanted to stay in that room for more than a couple of nights not so much because of the beds, but there wasn't an adequate place to put anything. I had to put my water glass on the floor and the armoire was too small to hold my suitcase, so that was also in the way. The master bedroom did not have box springs and the mattresses were on boards. The third bedroom was nice. Also, several of the electrical outlets upstairs did not work.

Owner's Response: As owners, we discussed this guest's complaint with our property managers. Apparently this was a last-minute reservation and this guest checked in early and departed after check-out. Her complaints had nothing to do with the quality she wanted. Our virtual tour of the home shows all of the bedrooms and the bedding on the website. If she had filled out a "customer satisfaction" survey, our property manager could have responded with any of her concerns such as providing an end table for the third bedroom. The beds in this room are DEFINITELY NOT "cots" but twin sized beds with bed springs, suitable for adults, and we have many friends in this room who love it. These historic Pinehurst cottages were built in the 1920's so not all of the bedrooms allow for larger beds. The beds in the master bedroom HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY A QUEEN-SIZE BED. In addition, all of the electrical outlets work. After renting our home for 17 years, this is the only negative review we have received. I think any guest visiting Pinehurst will appreciate this lovely home and accommodations, and will certainly enjoy the close proximity and walking-distance to the Old Towne Village of Pinehurst! The swimming pool in the backyard is especially welcome to children and adults alike in the spring/summer/fall seasons! We are proud of the positive comments evidenced in our Guest Book, and our property managers treat our home as if it is their own. They are immediately responsive to any guest needs relative to the home. This home has a unique quality of warmth with its rare white pine hardwood flooring throughout as well as comfy furnishings, spacious sun porch and lovely dining room. We enjoy sitting pool-side in the evenings with the pool lights on, surrounded by enormous pine trees, magnolias and azalea bushes. We hope you will too!
