Studio, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2 adults and one baby OR child)
We are long-time Kailua residents. We are an ocean-loving family that enjoys making friends, traveling, kayaking, snorkeling, volunteering, photography and stargazing. We love Kailua and we do what we can to take care of our town. We are professional photographers and we love taking photos of our guests on the beach. If you're celebrating an anniversary, honeymoon, babymoon, engagement, surprise proposal or just want some amazing photos for your Christmas card or social media, please send us an email to inquire about our discounted rates for our guests.
Why Owner/Manager chose Kailua
We always dreamed of a home by the sea in Kailua. We can walk to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world in about five minutes. The beach at night is also magical - with sand crabs scuttling about and moonlight reflecting on the water. We built the studio primarily for family and friends who visit, but when it is empty we enjoy sharing it with people from all over the world. Several of our guests have left a penny behind with a wish to return. We hope you will stay with us and enjoy our beautiful corner of the world as much as we do.

Great Hosts! Comfy Bed! A little Noisy
This studio apartment is exactly as the pictures show and it is well stocked with the key supplies. The King Bed is very comfortable (and I am quite particular), but the pillows are much less than comfortable. Richard and his wife are very good hosts and will do their best to help you out. The only comfortable spot to relax is on the bed because the two outdoor chairs (inside the studio) are not at all comfortable. All the windows have pull down blinds which aren't great at keeping the light out (if you like it dark). The small deck outside the apartment has no view at all and there is LOTS of road noise from the very busy street just 50 feet away. The street in front of the house is probably one of the more busy streets in the town and has lots of road noise starting at 6:30am. The walk to the two closest beaches is for sure 10 minutes, which is a bit of a hike if you are carrying chairs. The beach chairs provided are extremely basic. I always bring ear-plugs when I travel and with the air-conditioning running I managed to sleep fairly good, but getting in and out of the parking spot was sometimes a challenge with the constant traffic (we stayed Nov. 22 to 29 which was Thanksgiving weekend). If you don't mind some road noise and your not expecting any kind of a view from the deck, the apartment is very comfortable.
Thank you for your feedback and we wish you a Happy New Year. We wanted to address a few points for future guests based on your review. The windows in the room are double-glazed and the split A/C eliminates most exterior noise. We are on the main "beach road" in Kailua, which has one lane of traffic in each direction. We understand that guests who live in rural areas, cul-de-sacs or dead end streets may find our neighborhood more noisy than they are used to. With this in mind, we added a white noise machine to the room. We have also added another set of beach chairs that are a different design. The basic beach chairs we have are extremely light and easy to carry around. The fancier beach chairs are usually several pounds heavier. The blinds in the room are room-darkening blinds. Pillows are a personal preference so we have two sets of pillows in the room - one memory form (firm) and the other regular (more soft). We'll add one more set that is in between. The nearest beach access is only 0.1 miles or about 500 feet from the studio. You can hear the ocean from the balcony, but you cannot see it - there are a couple of houses and trees between the room and the beach. The listing includes a photo of the view (our yard, rooftops and palm trees) from the lanai. We have provided a guest parking space in the driveway which is directly in front of the studio steps. During rush hour, it may take a minute or two to get out of the driveway. We encourage future guests to contact us with any questions or concerns prior to booking to ensure that we meet expectations and you have a wonderful stay.
Great place, short walk to beach, clean!
Loved this place because it was clean, well stocked with miscellaneous supplies, and only a block from the most beautiful beach on Oahu. The bed was super comfortable even for my picky husband. The owners are so kind and helpful. The only drawback was it’s next to a busy street and daytime street noise is annoying (but you should be out enjoying the island, right?) but at night there is very little traffic so sleeping wasn’t a problem.
Great little getaway in a perfect location!
We loved this little studio. Turn one corner and there’s the beach, turn the other and there’s plenty of restaurants to go around. The beach chairs and umbrella were perfect for our little family. We even shredded some waves with the boogie board they provided!
It was extremely private and the hosts were very friendly. We would definitely come back. Thanks for an excellent first family vacation.
WOW, the place and location is awesome.
We stayed 8 nights between June 8th - 16th 2018. We are from NZ and this was our 2nd trip to Hawaii. We found Kailua during our first trip hence why we preferred staying in Kailua this time around and away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki.
This studio is awesome and definitely suited the 2 of us. I would estimate the studio is about 150 to 200 mtrs from beach. I would definitely and certainly hope to come back to stay here again.
The hosts are good people and they provided everything you needed.
Mahalo Richard and Shiyana.
Close to beach but noisy road
The unit was modern and nice. The wall A/C was great to have. However, when we did not use the A/C and had the windows open you heard a lot of traffic. The unit is above the garage which is fine but you don't really have a nice outdoor sitting area. There is a small landing by the unit entrance and a BBQ below but not to sit in quiet and read. The owners are very nice and you are super close to the beach.
What a gem!
Stayed in this fantastic studio for our first trip to Kailua in mid-March. 1 minute walk to the most beautiful beach we've ever visited. Although the weather didn't cooperate, we still had an amazing time. Such a great little beach town! Fun shops, restaurants, coffee spots, bike trails, parks, and hikes all within walking distance. We loved the location of the studio - so close to the beach and less than a 10 minute stroll to town. So many great amenities in this super clean and well-kept studio - everything you need for the perfect stay! Great outdoor patio for meals and cocktails! Don't miss Buzz's for great food and mai-tai's or Kalapawai Market!
Take your morning coffee to the beach and watch the sunrise. Spend the day frolicking at the beach! Bodyboard, kayak, windsurf, kiteboard or stand-up paddle on Kailua Bay. If you are lucky, a turtle might swim right up to you! When you need a break from ocean activities, visit Kawainui Marsh, the largest wetland in Hawaii. Several endangered waterfowl live in the marsh. (Birds are most active early morning or a little before sunset.) There are also several hikes in the Kailua-Lanikai area. Browse the beach-chic boutiques and try the restaurants in Kailua town. Take a long walk on the beach at sunset and say hello to the locals. When you are ready for the hustle and bustle of Waikiki, take a 30-minute drive over the mountain. All other major tourist attractions on the island are no more than an hour's drive from beautiful, laid back Kailua.
