Why Kate Beysselance chose Shenandoah Valley

We first visited Staunton, VA, over 10 years ago on a family vacation, and what we discovered is possibly the best kept secret in Virginia. Staunton is a beautiful town nestled in the Shenandoah Valley that has preserved its beautiful architecture and maintained its history, but kept an eye trained on the future. Years ago, the city decided to resist the pressures of “urban renewal” and save its old buildings instead of razing them. Now Staunton boasts one of America’s Greatest Main Streets, according to Travel and Leisure Magazine. And thanks to the amazing music, theatre, and arts culture in Staunton, it was recently named one of the 20 best small towns in America by Smithsonian Magazine. So when we started looking for the perfect home away from home, we were thrilled to find this beautiful property in our favorite small town.

Beautiful home! Much bigger than pictures led us to expect. Very comfortable.

Very relaxing! Easy distance from town. Sheets on master bed were fantastic! So much to do in town we didn't get to it all. We will need to come back and will defintetly stay in this spacious home. Owners were easy to work with and fast to reply to questions.

Staunton experience.

  • 5 of 5

We loved Quicklys retreat. It was comfortable and had everything we needed. There was space to sit alone and read as wells a large living room for hanging out. All linens were provided and the home was very clean. We had a vert easy access to downtown Staunton from this beautiful neighborhood.

Loved our stay here!

  • 5 of 5

We were in Staunton for our son's wedding and needed a place to stay for a week. Quickly's Retreat was just right for us. There were 6 of us staying in the house and we had plenty of room. The beds were comfortable. There were plenty of towels. The kitchen was well stocked. We had Sunday Brunch for 30. The neighborhood is very quiet. The location was perfect. We did have a problem with the stairs. The bottom step looks the same as the floor in the living room and it is easy to miss the last step. Suggestions are bath soap in the showers, recycle bins for each category, and some way to see that last step. Overall we had a very pleasant stay and would use the house again.

Owner's Response: We're so glad you enjoyed your stay, and thanks for the feedback. Surprised there was no soap in the showers - there should have been. Good suggestion about that bottom step - I'll try to find a colorful stick-on carpet strip for it.

Excellent stay

  • 5 of 5

The house is very nice and a short walk to downtown. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious. Plenty of towels and sheets on hand. Things such as trash bags, paper towels, saran wrap, coffee and tea are all included in the kitchen. The neighborhood is very quiet. Our group consisted of 5 college friends for a reunion of sorts and we each had our own bedroom. I would definitely stay at Quickly's Retreat again, if I made another trip to Staunton.

Charming, historic, tons of character

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent a week at Quickly's retreat when traveling home to visit my parents. Having grown up in the area I was familiar with Staunton, even so, this home exceeded my expectations. It was around the corner from the church where we were married, across the street from Mary Baldwin college, a mile from the park. Had we had more time it would have been a perfect location to eat at some of the restaurants or take in a play. We could not have asked for a better location. The last day of our stay my entire extended family came over for dinner. We sat on the porch and told stories and laughed. A great great trip! We will return.
