Beautiful house in a quaint little town!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in this house! We were 2 families of 4 and there was plenty of room for us to spread out. The house is clean and nicely decorated. It was so nice to have bikes and kayaks in the garage to use. It was also so helpful to have washer and dryer. Walking distance to the Oyster Farm restaurant which was delicious. We walked to the private beach down the street to kayak and watch the sunsets, but the public beach is much better & bigger. I wish there was a pool in this community, instead of the 10-15 minute drive. Cape Charles is the cutest little town! Rent a golf cart! Overall, we really enjoyed the house and our vacation!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the nice review. Glad you enjoyed your vacation in Cape Charles. I just can't resist adding to your comment about the charm of Cape Charles that you discovered touring the town in your street-legal, rented golf cart. Cape Charles is a historic town originally designed and developed by the railroad in the 1800s. Today its residents include locals as well as a whole lot of "Come Heres” who became "Stay Heres"," ranging from professionals, business owners, retired persons and second homers coming from throughout the nation. Historic homes have been and are being renovated and restored alongside construction of new homes in Bay Creek Resort (also a part of Cape Charles). An interesting note: The last catalog that Sears Roebuck published featured on its front cover a Sears Craftsman Home in Cape Charles. Sears sold through its catalog, as mail order kit homes, Craftsman homes between 1908 to 1940. These handsome Craftsman homes in Cape Charles are well preserved and are praised for their unique architecture. Although historic Cape Charles is being brought to a new vitality, even so, among its diverse residents there is still a feeling reminiscent of the friendliness of Andy's Mayberry. We all suspect that the town cop probably carries his bullet in his shirt pocket just like Andy's sidekick Barney did. Like Mayberry, you can still have a malted milk or lunch at the lunch counter in our drug store, but unlike Mayberry, in Cape Charles you can also enjoy fine dining at “The Shanty” crab shack on the waterfront at the Cape Charles Harbor and the Chesapeake Bay as well as “The Oyster Farm Seafood Eatery” on the water at Kings Creek and the Chesapeake Bay.

Best Trip We Have Ever Had!

  • 5 of 5

House was beautiful. We loved all of the ammentities that were available such as the kayaks, bikes, video games, DVDs. It was truly a beautiful place and enjoyable not having to fight the crowds. Parking downtown was easy to do and the entire week we spent was stress free. The house was in wonderful condition. Decoration was so well done and it was great sitting on the balcony watching the sun set. The big yard is great for kids to play. We would definitely come back!

Owner's Response: It has been such a wonderful experience being part of historic Cape Charles" evolution as an ideal family vacation haven and hear back from folks about how much they enjoyed vacationing in Cape Charles. The town continues to improve the already-great vacationing here. For example, the town recently completed its nature trail connecting into the boardwalk along the beach and all around the town. Thank you for your review and your kind words. You encourage us to work hard to continue to improve the vacationing experience in our home.

Beautiful, immaculate home. Plenty of room for 11 people. The large, well stocked kitchen was a joy to cook in. We loved being able to walk to the neighborhood beach which was perfect for our 4 grandchildren.

Thank you for a real enjoyable stay!

  • 4 of 5

We had some issues with the A/C but maintenance came and was able to fix it. Lemon and his team were extremely easy to work with and provided a free round of golf for our troubles. He also was kind enough to send back our pillow that we had left. Would definitely use them again!
