Have been to Northstar a few times, but never stayed on property. The property is within a mile of the village, shuttles conveniently pick you and drop you off (both ways), front desk is always available and super helpful, there is a fitness center and the slopes are terrific for all skill levels. Was very pleasantly surprised by the house. It was a bit more expensive than it should have been, but what did we expect over President's Day weekend! It is a bit dated, but not an issue as we weren't living there. Very "homey" and well set up (kitchen was well stocked with every utensil/dish you need to cook and prepare meals). It feels like a place where people live and love the property (vs. some places you stay and it feels like a rental). We had 7 in our party and it was very comfortable for us. Owners made it incredibly easy with instructions put in key areas of the house (shuttle calls, tv instructions, wifi password, etc). We had the use of the garage which allowed us to park 3 cars comfortably (can't park on the street so if you have more than 3 cars make sure you make plans in advance of where the extra car would go). Hot tub was a great touch. Used it each day we were there. Also had a service that cleared the snow on property.
Only odd thing of the whole stay was the Red Awning part of it (that's who actually books the property for you). I read some reviews of them (after booking!) and it scared me enough to call Northstar to make sure it was legit (a lot of stories of double bookings, people not being able to get ahold of someone when there were issues, properties being shown that weren't their's, etc). Thankfully it was legit, but you could tell you'd be in trouble with them if you weren't at a place like Northstar. Their initial confirmation had the hours of the front desk as Sun-Thurs 8am-5pm. I sent an email to them saying I was coming on Friday and got a reply that said "call them in advance to get instructions." I did - the front desk is open 24 hours/7 days week. Then got another email a day later saying the same thing (from another person replying - in the same way - as the first one). Oddly, broken English is the emails which makes me think they are out of the country or they outsource their customer service. This has nothing to do with the rental - which was terrific - only a caution to check and see who the booking company is first (you can "ask the owner" a question section of the site should enable this).
