The house was built by descendants of the Cornish settlers. It has high ceilings and large spaces. It is surrounded by a garden and it has a nice terrace which keeps the house warm throughout the whole year via passive thermal mass heat.
The main bedroom has a king size bed and a door that communicates with a twin size bedroom, so a family could sleep very comfortably.
On the other side of the house a queen bedroom is located on the second floor with a very nice view of the town and on the first floor a twin bedroom.
It is a great house for relaxing and enjoying nature and a typical mexican town surrounded by nature and local customs.
You have access to the house. The meditation, yoga room that is outside the house is not included.
Parties are not allowed for more than 10 people.
Real del Monte is a small mining town. The town´s steep streets, stairways and small squares are lined with low buildings, some dating back to the Spanish colonial period. The older houses with high sloping roofs and chimney in town show the 19th century Cornish and English influence.
There you can visit the English cementery, Acosta Mine where you can learn about its history and relevant aspects of mining work. On the site are vestiges and architectural installations, testimony of its historical stages: the colony, immigration and British investment in the region by starting the steam era and the advent of electricity with US investors. You can go inside the mine where you will meet a vein of silver, after a historical overview of the work of mining.
Real del Monte is a home of the british pasties in Mexico, with 30 pastie producers in the town. A little larger than cocktail pasties common in the UK, the Mexican-made versions are widely varied including: meat and potato, black bean, shredded chicken, and sausage, all heavily laced with chillies plus a range of sweet pasties including: pineapple, apple, strawberry and blackberry.
You can take a walk through El Hiloche Park where you can be surrounded by nature and if you like to take larger walks you can visit the National Park El Chico which is a 15 min drive from the town of Real del Monte.
From Mexico City catch the Mexico-Pachuca Highway. Before getting to Pachuca, follow the signs for Corredor de la Montaña. Distance chart: To Mexico City – 103 km; To Pachuca – 12 km; To Huasca de Ocampo – 16 km
