Via del Corno was also mentioned by the famous italian writer Vasco Pratolini in 'Chronicle of Poor Lovers', his best book, where he tells stories of Florence between 1925 and 1926. The novel is almost entirely set in Via del Corno, located between the Palazzo Vecchio and Santa Croce,in the same street where the author had spent some years of his youth.

The protagonists of the novel are the inhabitants, mostly working class and the author develops love affairs that involve the young people resident in the street. In the background, the scenery of Florence in the early years of Fascism, a city in the struggle for the assertion of conflicting values. In the small universe are well represented the many faces of Florentine life but also of the Italian reality.

This Pratolini novel came to the attention of critics and in 1954 the director Carlo Lizzani directed a movie based on the book with actors such as Marcello Mastroianni, Antonella Lualdi, Rowena Greek. The film, despite the problems of censorship, won the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

'La Terrazza apartment" is located in one of the oldest parts of the center of Florence, in the medieval triangle that leads from Piazza della Signoria and from the Uffizi Museum to Piazza Santa Croce, exactly one minute walk from Palazzo Vecchio and from the Bargello Museum and two minutes walk from the Uffizi.

LA TERRAZZA APARTMENT Hospitality for 8 people

The palace, though very old, has an elevator and the apartment, although it lies on a high first floor has a large and pleasant terrace of 30 square meters furnished with sofa and chairs and a canopy for shelter from the sun in the summer.

The apartment is divided equally into common areas, consisting of a living room with two sofas and two armchairs that overlooks the terrace and has a beautiful decorated wooden ceiling; a kitchen with vaulted ceiling, fully equipped with all the convenience of 20 meters that also overlooks and has access to the terrace, equipped with a bar and a dining table for 8 people; and a study, also with access to the terrace, with TV and DVD.

The master bedroom, very large and with a beautiful ceiling made with terracotta panels of the 16th century decorated with original gold and blue colours, has a king size bed and a bathroom en suite with a large shower and has direct access to the terrace.

The second bedroom also has a king size bed (160 x200 cm) and wood decorated ceiling as the living room and a bathroom with dual access from the living room and from the bedroom with a Jacuzzi bath tub.

The third bedroom is very spacious, in addition to the king size bed it is also equipped with a private balcony of 10 square meters and a loft of 10 square meters with a sofa that converts to a comfortable double bed (cm 195 x 140).

The apartment has a total of 130 square meters plus 30 square meters of outdoor living almost all year round.

The renovation has been completed recently, so the apartment is absolutely new and accurate in every detail.

Everything to let you have a suggestive stay in Florence.

"La Terrazza apartment" is extremely centrally located, few minutes walk to all the major sites and touristic attractions of Florence, though is also very close to food shops and and markets.

Perfect Apartment for our Florence Trip!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 stayed in this lovely apartment in the heart of Florence for six nights. Stefania was there waiting for us when we arrived to give us the keys, give us a tour of the apartment and show us how everything worked. She was also there when we checked out, and was a pleasure to work with.

This apartment has 3 large bedrooms, each with it's own bathroom and shower / tub. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds are large and comfortable. One of the bedrooms has a spiral staircase up to a loft area with a sofa-sleeper, which our youngest son thought was great. The kitchen is large and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The apartment is in the shape of a square, with a terrace in the middle. Unfortunately it was too cool in March to fully appreciate it, but it would be wonderful in warmer weather (or with an outdoor heater or fire pit added!).

The apartment is on the 2nd floor. There is a tiny elevator that we used only for our luggage.

The location for this apartment is ideal! Because it was off of an alley it was quiet, but at either end of the alley was a street full of shops and restaurants, so it was perfect. A 5 minute walk to the Uffuzi, 5-10 minute walk to the Duomo, 10- 15 minute walk to the Santa Maria Novella train station, and 5-15 minutes to just about anywhere else you'd want to be.

We fell in love with Florence. Our daughter is studying abroad there and we now understand why she loves Florence. We will be back.

Best place to stay in Florence

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this 3 bedroom, 3 bath unit for about 10 days over Christmas and New Years. It consists of 3 large bedrooms with each having its own bath. The unit is spacious and the kitchen well stocked. The apartment is located right behind the Uffizi Gallery, so it is very convenient to all of the downtown museums, shopping and dining. The area is generally quite, so you can get a restful sleep. Best of all Remo and Stefania are extremely helpful and responsive.

Hint, we found it easier to call for a cab from in front of the nearby Hotel Bernini, because some cabs didn't want to drive down the small street.

You won't go work picking this unit as your place to stay in Florence.

Great location, nice and roomy, comfortable beds!

  • 5 of 5

Four ladies shared this apartment. We appreciated the roominess and cleanliness of the apartment as well as the location! Wi-Fi service was great and the beds were comfortable. Stefania suggested some fantastic local restaurants for us and we went to all of them. Apartments can’t be heated until Nov 1 and we were there the last week of October, so Stefania brought us extra towels and blankets. We had a fabulous time and recommend this apartment.

Perfect Florence Experience!

  • 5 of 5

After searching for more than a year for a place to celebrate our retirement, this amazing property rose to the top. Pictures just don't do it justice. The apartment is beautiful and well appointed, with everything you could possibly want or need -- large bedrooms, each with comfy beds and modern, luxury bathrooms, plenty of great indoor and outdoor space for our family, the convenience of a fully-equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher (something you don't find everywhere.) And, since we were in Florence for a month, we also appreciated that the apartment had a washer/dryer. Stefania, the property manager, was excellent! On our arrival, Stefania welcomed us with a nice bottle of wine, provided a tour of the apartment and, throughout our stay, she was always very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed.

The location of the apartment is AMAZING! Within walking distance of everything that makes Firenze so incredible -- the museums, the piazzas, the restaurants, the shops. After a long day walking and enjoying everything Florence has to offer, being able to come back to such a beautiful "home" and having a glass of Chianti on the terrace made the experience even more memorable.

We loved Florence and this apartment and would definitely stay here again. Thank you Stefania!

Perfect vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

Very spacious beautiful home! Incredible location steps from everything - galleries restaurants and shopping. 3 comfortable bedrooms each with ensuite bath. Great covered terrace to enjoy a glass of wine. A/C and wifi made this place an oasis of comfort after long days. Stefania was gracious, very responsive, recommended restaurants and day trip private driver. I hated to leave and would definitely stay here again on another trip. Thank you Stefania!

Florentine Perfection!

  • 3 of 5

This is by far the best apartment we have ever stayed in. Everything was done perfectly from first contact to checkout. Stefania met us and showed us around, answered questions and fielded a few phone calls, and left us lovely Italian cookies along with our security deposit prior to our departure. (We were also given a welcome bottle of wine.) The apartment is very spacious and very well appointed. The beds are great and the bathrooms are amazing. Everyone wanted to try out the "jacuzzi shower." The kitchen is well equipped and we did use it for some of our meals. The patio in the center provided light and fresh air without the disturbance of street noise. Not that there would have been much noise, since Via del Corno is basically an alley and the other nearby streets were very narrow. But down a few of those narrow streets lies a foodie paradise. The two most significant finds for us were several largely gluten free restaurants and a completely gluten free bakery!! We were right in the heart of the action, literally steps from the Uffizi and Piazza Signoria in one direction, Santa Croce in another, and very near the Ponte Vecchio and other shopping opportunities. If you are lucky enough to have an opportunity to stay in this apartment, don't hesitate, book it without delay!
