About Jeannette Moore

We are avid hikers, and love the feeling of being lakeside. We have lived in North Carolina for 20 years after being assigned to this beautiful state while on active duty. Our travels all over the world can not compare to the Nantahala mountains. We try to return to Queen's Lake Haven as often as possible, but want to share the experience with others!

Jeannette Moore purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Jeannette Moore chose Smoky Mountains

Our family was looking for a unique out-of-the way home, not just another cabin, when we discovered this beautiful secluded chalet, with easy access yet very private. Incredible lake views during the day and no neighbor's lights to hinder star gazing at night.

What makes this cabin unique

Three outside decks and views from every window make us feel we are in nature yet have all the comforts of a warm inviting home. The home has a distinctive architectural design like no other.

Excellent!

  • 5 of 5

I would like to say that the house we stayed at, was everything that was described during our stay! the country side was breathtaking and absolutely loved the house! Plenty of room and fun to be at. We called the owner one time in regards to a small issue and she got right back to us and helped us out! We would definitely stay at this house again! Thank you so much!

Fun lake house with great scenery

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 4 nights over the eclipse weekend -- this house was in the path of totality. The neighborhood was therefore quite busy due to eclipse visitors, lots of activity out on the lake. We took the canoe out twice, which was very special for our kids. We viewed the eclipse from the outside deck, which has a nice set of chairs and table, as well as a hot tub. Overall, it was fantastic setup for our family of 4.

Pros: Quiet, comfortable, short walk to lake, awesome canoe (paddles and life vests provided!), nice deck with hot tub, screened porches with lovely views, cool house (literally, it has A/C!), nice clean fridge, plenty of dishware and silverware, nice beds and bedding, plenty of towels, good wi-fi, great spaces for family fun, especially the foos ball table :)

Cons: Cons were pretty minor. Like previous posters, house needs a deep clean. Kitchen pans and implements need an upgrade (teflon is peeling on pans, wine opener is broken, no cheese grater, dull knives). Would be nice if all the internal doors had locks to help guests feel secure. Driveway is very steep, so be prepared for that, and the gravel road is a little rough and some of the locals drive pretty fast on it. If you are a runner, be careful of aggressive dogs in the neighborhood down past Camp Branch Rd.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your input. We are replacing/adding kitchen utensils as we speak! Running on the other end of the road is great. No dogs, no people!.

Great time!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay! Really enjoyed the hot tub, quick access to Queens Lake, fire pit and overall peaceful experience.

We've stayed at many places in this area before and this one is one of the nicest, although I do feel it could use a good deep clean. It was hard to leave!

Beautiful house, relaxed peaceful setting

  • 5 of 5

My family of five spent a relaxing five nights at Queens Creek Lake. I loved the layout of the house, where the family room and kitchen are almost an entirely separate house from where the bedrooms are. The master bedroom was spectacular, especially the screened in second floor deck.

We all enjoyed the hot tub on the deck and spent many hours out on the lake in the canoe. The fishing was good (once we gave up on worms and started using minnows), so we got to enjoy fresh large mouth bass and perch.

We spent one day white water rafting (a great day with Adventurous Fast Rivers) and spent all the rest of the days relaxing, fishing, and thoroughly enjoying the beautiful setting.

Thank you so much for sharing your home!

Nice secluded home

  • 4 of 5

Had a good stay at this rental. Nice amenities like a hot tub, canoe, screened porches and spacious master suite. Driveway is steep and house is located off a gravel road, but it is secluded and situated across the road from a small lake. Boat launch/ramp is a short walk from the home. Kitchen is small, but equipped. Bonus is the drink cooler to put all those water and Gatorade bottles, so they don't take up room in the smaller size refrigerator.

lovely vacation getaway for all ages

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely relaxing time at queens lake. We enjoyed campfires, fishing, taking out the canoe, the scenic area to take photos and walk along the river close by. We also rented a pontoon boat on Fontana lake- very reasonable prices. The house was nice, each room having a screened porch was nice. It would have been nice to have locks on the bathroom doors, but it wasn't a problem, and the place needs a good spring clean - ie. Behind dressers, and blinds could use a wipe down. But otherwise the place was well kept and it was just what we needed. Thank you for sharing your vacation home with us.
