About Nicola Pericoli

Hospitality is a real passion, leaving good memories is the mission. This is the slogan that best represents us. Roberta & Nicola (sister & brother) with Ena and Roberto (mother and father) are the owners of this beautiful private property.

Nicola Pericoli purchased this house in 1998

Why Nicola Pericoli chose Firenze (Florence) Province

We live in a nearby town.

What makes this house unique

We love the panoramic view of the Arno's valley, the countryside with vineyards and olive groves, dotted with cypress trees.

The villa enjoys a beautiful location, we can see the valley but also the mountain, we enjoy a panoramic view of 360 degrees

Guestbook comments from the owner

Simon:"We chose Tuscany because we wanted to experience a cultural holiday, with a sense of isolation. We found that with Casale degli Ulivi, the Tuscan villa! The house was at the end of a dirt track, surrounded by vines and olive trees, with an idyllic view of the rolling Tuscan hills. We felt like we were miles from civilisation, yet it was only a 15 minute drive to the local station for express trains to Florence and Rome. The house itself had plenty of room for the six of us, and kept us cool during a very hot first week. The gardens and pool area kept us all either busy, or asleep in the sun. The film crew visited us early in the holiday, and it is a day we will all remember for a long time. The camera guys really immersed themselves (literally for the underwater cameraman!) in our day and had us in fits of laughter as they encouraged us to make the most of the pool and the kitchen. When I entered the competition there was some trepidation from a couple of the family about a day with a film crew, now everyone would like a film day every year!" Stunningly beautiful views and excellent host!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough good things about our experience at Casala degli Ullivi. We left wishing that we had booked more nights here. The views are breathtaking, and there is tons of space. The home's owner even went out and purchased a basketball and new ping pong table equipment so that our teenage boys could enjoy their down time. Nicola went out of his way to make our stay comfortable and was a wonderful host. When we hopefully return to Italy in the future, this home will definitely be a part of our stay!

Beautiful, peaceful, serene

  • 5 of 5

Our family group of 12 (9 adults, 3 teenagers) stayed at Casala degli Ullivi and had an amazing time. We were able to fulfill our goals of having close family time, relax and enjoy the Tuscan country side, explore the area/Tuscany and relax.

First - communication before was very easy with Nicola and allowed us both to get information on getting to the Villa as well as coordinating activities (see below).

Second - the villa itself accommodated the 12 of us (all adult sized) with a variety of spaces allowing for both privacy and separation but adequate shared space. The kitchen was well-stocked and easy to use. The outdoor spaces were the best part - a beautiful patio with lounge seating, table on which we shared all of our meals, a grill, and the pool space with lounge chairs. And if that was not enough - there was also a front porch and generous yard space.

Third - getting to the villa - we rented two cars and having a car is almost essential. Google maps indicates that there is a bus you can take to the train station after walking but the beauty of the villa is its relative isolation so the last part is a gravel road to the farmland. Taking the train into and out of Florence (which people did a couple times) was very easy. The only thing to consider is that it is a good 20-25 minute drive from the villa to the train station. Groceries and other supplies were easy to grab in the town. Driving around Tuscany is also very doable and we even did a road trip to Siena.

Fourth - what to do. Day trips - train to Florence, driving to Chianti or Siena are easy to do. We also coordinated a wine tour, cooking class, catered dinner and a hike. The first three were with Chef Lorenzo who is very amicable, funny and a pleasure. Plus his food is amazing. The hike was with Claudio and provided excellent views of the valley, villa and took a jaunt through some old small towns. The hike stops at his gorgeous farmhouse for an amazing lunch. However, just relaxing in or by the pool, reading and doing nothing were also well appreciated by our group.

Fifth - we had no problems - the wifi worked fast, the appliances worked great and life was a breeze. We had one maintenance request that was taken care of immediately with prompt check-in by Nicola.

We overall strongly recommend this property for both the beauty and serenity of staying there and the ease in being able to relax because you are in good hands.

Beautiful Villa in a serene location surrounded by olive trees and vineyards

  • 5 of 5

My family just returned from a one week stay at Villa degli Ulivi. I highly recommend this home and its owners and care takers!!

The house is big and beautiful and well maintained. There was ample space for everyone in my family with 5 bedrooms and three full bathrooms on the second floor. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms are updated and convenient. The kitchen is large enough for both cooking and for a large family to eat in. We generally ate breakfast and late dinners in the kitchen and never used the dining room. The real gem of this house is the exterior space which is huge with several sitting areas (one on front balcony and at least 4 more in backyard). The balcony off the family room is spacious and has a large dining table which we used for dinners over looking the sunset. The views around this house are spectacular with rolling hills, vineyards and olive trees. The closest house is many yards away, on another hill. The real reason to rent this house is for the serene and breathtaking surroundings and privacy. The views can be seen from all the windows and balconies.

The kitchen is fully stocked with pots pans, plates etc. There were plenty of blankets, towels etc. The house is perfect for a large extended family. We were 9: 5 adults and 4 kids. Since we stayed there in April, it was still too cold for the pool which looks really beautiful and I'm sure would be fun in the summer months.

I was in contact by email with the owner Nicola who was always quick to reply and very helpful before our trip. During our stay we were in contact with Claudio the property manager and his wife Heidi. Both are gracious and helpful. Nicola recommended hiring Lorenzo, a local chef to do a cooking class for our group. I highly recommend Lorenzo who spent an entire afternoon and evening with our family teaching us to prepare ravioli, chianti pork, appetizers and biscotti - it was one of the highlights of our trip!

The only drawback to this house is that it is off the beaten path and rather far from most tourist attractions in Tuscany. Florence, the closest city is at least an hour away. We took the train there to avoid parking issues and it worked well for us (make sure you take the express train and not the local). Most place are 1.5 hours away (Sienna, San Gimignano etc.) so plan for that. Although the rides are beautiful. I highly recommend a trip to Arezzo which is closet and less touristy. It was my favorite!

Terrific Tuscan Holiday

  • 5 of 5

What a marvelous Tuscan vacation! My wife and I rented the Villa for 4+ weeks in September. We had planned to arrive early and spend a few days in Figline Valdarno so we could learn about the area, do some site-seeing, and become familiar with the nearby stores and resteraunts before our guests arrived. As it turned out, we were able to rent this wonderful Villa for a few extra days at the beginning of our stay. This was perfect.

Driving from the airport in Florence was a challange, but Claudio was there to welcome us when we finally arrived and to help us explore our new home. Getting around was easy once we were more familiar with the area.

The Villa can easily accomodate 10 or more guests. All of the bedrooms and bathrooms are good sized and the house and property are large enough that we never felt crowded. The property itself is lovely and well maintained and is surrounded by vineyards. The location is close to some lovely towns such as Regello and Pian di Sco and a number of very good resteraunts. Our favorite was Ristorante Pizzeria Andrea in Pian di Sco.

During the first part of our stay our son and family (including a 8 month old great grandson) stayed with us. The Villa was perfect for all of us. A crib and high chair were provided for the baby and the grounds include a great play area for children, complete with swings. Our family enjoyed swimming, reading on the veranda, taking walks and just relaxing.

One evening we enjoyed a cooking class, arranged by Claudio with Chef Lorenzo. We had fun, learned something about Italian culinary arts and had a wonderful meal. We highly recommend a class or catered meal with Chef Lorenzo.

One of the best things about our stay was the personal attention given to us by Nicola, the owner, and Claudio the concierge. They were generous with their time and their knowledge of the area. They took care to make sure that everything we needed for our stay was available.

During the second half of our stay we were joined by other friends and family and had another wonderful catered meal. We spent more time away from the Villa during this time, visiting the local towns as well as destinations such as wine tasting in the Chianti region, Volterra, Siena and of course, Florence. Wherever we went it was always great to get back to the Villa and enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine. The Villa is perfect for exploring the rest of Tuscany.

Our thanks to Nicola, Claudio and Angela.

A villa that gave a wonderful lived in feel to it.

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful well equipped Tuscan villa with charisma, which offers plenty of room for 11 adults. The views are out of this world and I would not hesitate to recommend this property for a family get together. We enjoyed BBQ evenings on the terrace watching the sun-setting and had fun trying to spot the wild boar. On previous holidays we have eaten out on most evenings but we enjoyed the villa so much that we chose to eat at home most nights. Lorenzo cooked for us one evening which was delightful - offering vegetarian and gluten free options with a smile. Claudio was extremely helpful when we contacted him and nothing was too much trouble even when we arrived after midnight. We did take time to travel to Florence by train which was straight forward and drove to Sienna. Both worth a visit. Thoroughly recommend a trip to Chianti for wine tasting too. The youngsters were extremely pleased to have Wi-Fi at the villa and we all agree we will be returning for another visit.

Superb villa, just perfect

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful villa, not too precious but very well presented and adequately equipped. Lovely bed linen and towels. Great bathrooms.

The pool was so well set out and very safe for our 4 grandchildren ages 6,5,4,&3. they loved it, spending as much time as possible swimming, diving and playing. It was all so relaxing we lost count of the days. Lorenzo came and cooked a typically Tuscan meal for us,- super. We drank great wine and watched amazing sunsets and wild storms from the terrace. Nicola was a great host, most attentive and informative. We saw the wild boar (3 adults and 3 young on several occasion foraging for pears in the orchard below the terrace- fascinating for the children.

Altogether a truly memorable family holiday. Would highly reccommend
