This charming Provençal style studio apartment is 55 sq/mtrs and situated south facing on the top floor of an original three storied building on Rue Des Marseillais, it is sunny, light, spacious and airy. The traditional flagstone floor, combines with the amazing old style Poutre (exposed beams) and the stunning antique Parefeuille (terracotta) ceiling - something not often seen anymore, adding to the wonderful ambiance of traditional French living. There is a fully equipped and modern kitchen including fridge, microwave, bench top oven, 4 ring ceramic cooking hob and washing machine. The fully tiled modern bathroom includes toilet, vanity and large walk-in shower. There is a cosy dining alcove in the main living area and spacious lounge with two large sofa’s, 2 armchairs and large coffee table.
The mezzanine bedroom containing a very comfortable Queen size bed, is accessed by a wrought iron Japanese style staircase. The romantic French style decor in Provençal colours and sumptuous bed linens offer wonderful comfort to aid a good night’s sleep. A smart TV is available with access to 170 channels, and unlimited FREE wifi connection to search the internet including skype etc. A radio/DVD player & ipod/iphone docking station is provided to enjoy your favourite music and a landline phone which allows FREE unlimited local (French) calls, including to local French mobile numbers and a total of 100 countries (landlines only). The entire apartment is elegantly furnished and decorated in the traditional Provençal colours and style for your enjoyment and comfort.
The apartment has electric heating in winter and in the summer months is well ventilated with large front windows and fans to circulate the air. Due to the historic nature of the building we are unable to install an air-conditioning unit. As the apartment is located in the historic centre there is no designated car park provided, however there is ample secure public car-parking nearby, the closest being at Place Des Cardeurs (only 200m away or 2-3 mins walk), the large Rotonde carpark is approx 10mins walk away. Approximate daily rate for car-parking is 13-15 Euro’s. There is also a wonderful 'Park & Ride' facility at a cost of only 2 Euro per day with a bus running every 10mins to and from the city. It is possible to park further outside the town centre free of charge.
To aid your quest to live like a local, besides the daily marches (markets) there are several supermarkets nearby, including within walking distance, the large Monoprix located on the Cours Mirabeau (5-10mins walk); take the shopping trolley provided to put your groceries in like everyone else in the neighbourhood.
Aix-en-Provence is renowned for being a vibrant, lively town with many events and festivals. Along with activities related to its famous artists Cezanne and Vasarely, the popular music and lyric arts festival takes place in June-July every year; in August the nearby town of La Roque d’Antéron hosts an internationally acclaimed piano festival; anytime during the year take part any number of French classes for foreigners, cooking classes, private art tours and art lessons, enjoy the state-of-the-art spa within walking distance from the apartment and built on the authentic ruins of the former Roman spa, offering delightful cures, massages, water aerobics, and all sorts of relaxation for your aches and pains.
Aix-en-Provence is centrally located for day trips to the stunning Luberon Valley and its spectacularly picturesque towns such as La Coste, Roussillon & Gordes; trips to the seaside in Marseille and Cassis where you can experience the delicious Bouillabaisse dish and wonderful seaside scenery and much more.
