The place was perfect With a great view
The owner Mark was very helpful and was very responsive with any questions we had . I will defiantly stay there again when I'm back in the area
Thank you for picking my place. I'm glad you had a good time, you are welcome back anytime!!
Great view of the lake. Nice house for the price.
Great , quiet getaway.
Nice area, was great to have boat slip just few steos away. House had great view, privacy, cozy, perfect hone away from home. Only negative, had to clean coffee pot & no extra roll of toilet paper. Otherwise had all that was needed & clean & comfortable.
People in area couldn't be nicer, Marina was very helpful & surprised us with good food at reasonable prices.
Well kept home, great place to lay back at the pier fishing. Caught catfish and blue gills. Very quiet. Watch birds, squirrels and chip monks. Very clean inside.
What a perfect getaway
One of my friends and I drove nearly 8 hours from N.C. to come explore southern Illinois. I found Mark’s place on Home Away and tried it.
What a beautiful little nook of the world it turned out to be! The house was a perfect size for two friends or even a family. Mark met us at checkin and was so thoughtful to bring paper products in case we hadn’t. The furniture is all very comfortable, with a reclining sofa and oversized chairs, as well as comfy beds and porch furniture. There’s a huge flat-screen tv as well, which was a nice bonus.
It’s a bird-watcher’s haven too...Mark had seed on the feeder so we got to enjoy beautiful birds all week. The view from the porch is so lovely. In fact you can’t even see houses on the lake from his porch, so there is a sense of privacy. The swing and dock below are great reading or fishing spots. (Several boats came and fished close to Mark’s Dock. It’s a good spot to catch fish!)
We just had an awesome time exploring all that Southern Illinois has to offer, and this was a charming base. I can’t tell you how peaceful it was!
He is a friendly and thoughtful host who went over the top for us. You won’t be disappointed staying at this beautiful place.
Fun ideas: take the long country drive to Hedman’s Vineyard en route to Bald Knob Cross, or antique shop in Goreville and Vienna. Hike in Fern Clyffe State Park, Giant City State Park, Garden of the Gods, Cave In Rock. Have catfish at E-town in Elizabethton. Take the ferry at Cave In Rock to Kentucky, get pleasantly lost, and buy cheese and pickles from the Amish Trading post for an impromptu picnic. :) Visit San Damiano and try to catch a glimpse of an eagle over the Ohio River, or take a pic of the Good Shepherd Statue.
Read a book and have coffee on Mark’s porch and let the lake view wash your soul clean. Thanks so much!
Oh and there is a keurig, which was so appreciated! Lol
