Property type estate
Minimum Stay 5 nights

About the property

6.5 Bedroom House Available With or Without 2 Bedroom Guest Cottage

A sense of serenity permeates this architectural jewel just one mile outside of the Village of Rhinebeck. This newly-renovated house was designed as a celebration of the natural beauty of upstate New York. Set deep within a 10 acre park-like property, the house was constructed with a palate of local field-stone, maple flooring and black walnut accents. Soaring floor-to-ceiling windows bring the outside in. Sit in the sunroom with its three glass window-walls and appreciate the old-growth oak and cedar trees that encircle the the back yard. Or snuggle up next to one of the house's two massive stone fireplaces as you bask in the warmth from the radiant heat in the floors. If you like to cook, you will love the modern kitchen with its Miele appliances, professional grade cookware and 20-foot bay of windows that flood the kitchen with natural light. The house's open floor plan gradually unfolds to connect the kitchen, dining room, living room, family room and sun room, while preserving distinct feeling of intimacy and separateness of the different rooms. The architecture is thoroughly modern--with strong Japanese influences--but has an earthy warmth that appeals even to people not usually fond of the modern vernacular.

As you settle into the house, you can retire to the master bedroom suite. After sweating your cares away in the steam shower, you can soak in the huge freestanding tub and gaze out a huge window that overlooks the forest as a flock of wild turkeys saunter by. Privately enjoy the conveniences of a two sink vanity, a walk-in cedar closet and a private commode with heated Toto toilet, your guests can choose from one of three bedrooms on the main level and another two en suite bedrooms in the finished basement--which were designed specifically for parents with young children. There are three guest bathrooms and cedar closets throughout.

The house has some great modern amenities as well... There is a Sonos music system that can pipes music through the entire house replete with a docking station for your iPod. There is also a 52-inch TV and DVD player cleverly hidden behind a sliding panel. There is a two-car attached garage for those cold winter nights and an exercise room with a professional elliptical machine in the basement (so you can work off that meal you cooked last night!). If it is a bit warmer out, you can fire up the grill on the deck just off the kitchen and enjoy locally sourced organic meat from Fleisher's. Or, jump on the WiFi and read about all the great restaurants and activities to do in and around the Hudson Valley, knowing that you are just a few miles away from some of the best restaurants, farmers markets, antique stores and scenic walks you'll find anywhere.

Property also features an automatic backup generator so power outages will not get in the way of your enjoyment.

Nestled in the heart of the Hudson Valley, Rhinebeck has something for everyone. Two hours from New York City by car or by Amtrak, the village has a small town feel with cute shops and a wonderful vibe. With the Culinary Institute only 15 minutes away, the whole region is peppered with great restaurants, farmer's markets and local meat and produce shops. There are countless parks where you can take a casual stroll over looking the Hudson or do some of the most serious hiking and rock climbing on the East Coast. Rich in history, the Hudson River Valley has historical sites, mansions to tour and old towns and villages, some dating back three hundred years. You can get a taste of country life with a hayride or pick-your-own farms or explore nearby places like Woodstock, Hudson, Millbrook and Kingston. For the kids, there is the Old Aerodrome, which has antique airplanes on display and air shows. For older kids, horse farms, sportsman’s clubs, golf courses, and dozens of streams and lakes for fishing surround Rhinebeck. Bard College and the Fisher Center for the Arts is only ten minutes away.

Please note, the property owner does not allow gatherings of more than 20 people.

Perfect for what we were looking for

  • 5 of 5

Our daughter was born earlier in 2014 so instead of traveling to see family in Canada and Brazil over the Christmas holidays we decided to invite them all to NY and rented this home in Rhinebeck for two weeks to house everyone. It was perfect for our needs which were principally to have a comfortable setting for everyone to relax and enjoy spending time together. The living area is huge and adjacent to a very open kitchen and dining room. It's the heart of the house and where we happily spent most of our time. As the pictures suggest the home is either recently constructed or renovated and has all sorts of modern finishes and touches that a discerning renter would appreciate. The property is very well kept and someway in off the main road which provides for a sense of isolation which we enjoyed. We had 10 adults and 3 young children which were easily accommodated. The management company that manages the house is excellent; very responsive and clearly experienced in providing a level of service that is noticeably top notch. They provided us with several recommendations for chefs, one of whom we ended up using and were very pleased with. We admittedly didn't spend much time in Rhinebeck or Kingston other than grocery shopping trips, buying a christmas tree and walking the main street in Rhinebeck so can't comment on the local attractions but a number of our group made day trips in to the city either driving or taking the train. Everyone had a good time and we'd happily recommend this home.

I was with Renee G on her awesome 40th birthday weekend. I was amazing and we didn't want to leave! I checked availability and this house is booked until 2018! That's how amazing it really was.

Amazing House!

  • 5 of 5

Rented this house to celebrate my 40th birthday. Every single thing about it was perfect! It's modern, warm, and has everything you could possible want. The master bathroom with the steam shower was a real incredible. It was hard to leave such a peaceful place. Me and my friends had an unforgettable weekend! Definitely will rent again and highly recommend it.

I Want To Live Here

  • 5 of 5

We rented this place for our wedding weekend, to keep the entire wedding party in one location. After seeing both the house and grounds for the first time, part of me wished we had just held our wedding at the house--it certainly would have been able to accommodate it in the most beautiful fashion. The site is tucked away in a wooded area with beautiful firs and Japanese maples around the property. The common areas are spacious, comfortable, and have great views of the grounds. You're always surrounded by sunlight and the outdoors.

The interiors of both the home and the cottage were well-appointed. It is a very modern house, but it's also one that can really be *lived in*, with plenty of washer/dryer units, new appliances, large sofas with throw pillows, and coffee and dining tables which can handle meals, card games, and conversations for multiple groups. All of the common areas are great for congregation and socializing, and are fairly isolated from the bedrooms.

The master bedroom has a huge cedar walk-in closet that was a godsend for helping us get ready on our wedding day.

Perhaps the best endorsement was from the wife of my best man, who upon entering the house proclaimed: "I have died and gone to Dwell Magazine." From the five zone Sonos system, to the Toto washlets with proximity sensors, to the gorgeous mid-century consoles and tables throughout the residence, I have to agree.

Excellent House

  • 5 of 5

Rented the main house for a summer week. Everything was fantastic - starting with the up-front communication by the property manager who was always available to answer any questions we had and provided great insight to local activities, restaurants, shopping, etc. The house was beautiful and impeccably maintained. Everything was truly "state-of-the-art". I can't rave enough about the experience!

Fantastic Multi-family College Reunion Weekend!!!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in this home the weekend of my college reunion, along with my former room mates and all of our families. The house was so luxurious we almost didn't make it to campus. It easily accomodated four families including ten children ranging from age 3 through 11. The small high-end details in the kitchens and bathrooms, abundant space for youngsters inside and out, a multiplicity of sleeping and bathing accomodations (affording more than sufficient privacy), expansive, isolated and serene wooded setting that can be appreciated from both the indoors and outside all contributed to a wonderful weekend. The owner/manager were easily accessible and accomodating and met us for a walk through when we arrived. I have rented through VRBO many times, but this place takes the cake.
