About Douglas Barrilleaux

I am a south Louisiana native who spent the last 12 years in Dallas and 9 of those refurbishing this Prairie Style home. We love this house and hope that you will as well. We were very torn on our move back to Louisiana and away from Dallas and our St. Thomas community that we were so fond of. We did not have the heart to sell the home we have so many good memories of, and have not ruled out returning to it at some point in time.

Douglas Barrilleaux purchased this house in 2003

Why Douglas Barrilleaux chose Junius Heights

This home is conveniently located in East Dallas. It is a very short drive to the Dallas Convention Center (3.8 mi) and anything else in the downtown area. Convenient access to I30, 135, I45 or Central Expressway. Whole Foods is just down the street along with Starbucks and many other local conveniences. The Sante Fe trail is located 2 blocks away for the joggers and bikers, and there are tennis courts just around the corner. Tenison Golf Course (public) is approximately 2 miles away and Lakewood Golf Course (private) is less than that. This house is located in the Historic Junius Heights District next to Lakewood and Hollywood Heights. With the pool in the back yard and pool table in the game room, there is plenty to keep everyone occupied while visiting. Come stay with us and you'll be sure to have a good time.

Fantastic home with all the right character

  • 5 of 5

I was fortunate to spend a weekend in this house while in Dallas for a SEC football game. The house was in great shape, each room has it's own feel and charm, the dining room was a fantastic gathering place for friends and meal time.

The house is very large, has room for numerous families to be comfortable, the back pool house apartment has a second full kitchen and game room.

I would recommend this property to anyone, the house far surpassed my groups expectations.

The friendly home owners checked on us upon arrival and then gave us privacy the rest of the weekend. This is one of the nicest homes I've rented online. 5+ Star.

Return trip

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to this VRBO. We love visiting this home, it is lovely, spacious, has everything we need to have our whole family stay together. There was a glitch in the air conditioning and they were on it immediately. We love this unique and comfortable home. We can highly recommend it.

Charming and comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful, clean and spacious home accommodated three families (9 people) comfortably.

Douglas was very easy to communicate with during the reservation process. Since we had no problems at the house I had no need to call or ask for his assistance but I am sure he would have answered promptly!

If the need comes up, I would definitely rent this home again! I highly recommend it as my family absolutely loved it.

Thank you Barrilleaux Family!

Lovely, large home with great pool.

  • 5 of 5

My sister's family and my brother's family traveled from Colorado and my wife and i traveled from Seattle for our great Aunt's birthday. This home added to that beautiful experience greatly because (1) it has a pool underneath the warm Texas sun right next to a very lovely shade tree and ample backyard with BBQ making it _I-deal_ for solving the world's problems with one's cousins while the little ones splash about and (2) the home has a large guest house and bedrooms in the main house for accommodating a large family.

To show I'm not just blathering Pollyanna-style, i will enumerate the 2 downsides that I can think of: one is that the toaster is too complicated. I'm a bumpkin and I couldn't figure out how to make it toast my wheat bread. The other is that the B family appears to be fans of the Louisiana State Tigers when clearly the University of Colorado Buffaloes and the University of Washington Huskies are the correct teams to root for. That said, we are looking forward to Carlos Henderson's contributions as a professional.

Thank you very much for sharing your home. It was lovely. The nearby Lakewood Smokehouse has great BBQ, the nearby Whole Foods has a nice salad bar and the nearby Zoe's Kitchen offers quick service Greek/Mediterranean fare like humus, chicken kabobs and Greek salad.
