About Dave V.
I moved here over 25 years ago from upstate New York. I've witnessed Asheville grow up from a sleepy mountain town to the Beer Mecca it is today but I still enjoy country living. Just ask and I'll let you know where to get the best brews in town!
Why Dave V. chose Leicester
Come relax by the warmth of the fire in our pet-friendly Smoky Mountain hide-away. This area of Buncombe County is so beautiful and we wanted to share it with others. You’ll be centrally located to all the great activities the Asheville area has to offer. This area is special because it’s close to downtown, yet far enough away to enjoy nature. Ten miles to West Asheville, 15 minutes to French Broad River. 30 minutes to the Smokey Park Highway, 40 minutes to Hot Springs, plus many local farms and hiking spots to explore!

The cabin was very comfortable for four adults and one large hound. It has all the modern amenities, was very clean, and was the quaint, mountain, rustic cabin getaway vacation spot we were hoping to enjoy. We loved all the special local artists’ works that make the cabin come alive and tie it to the Asheville community. Owner, Dave Vicary, promptly answered our texts when we asked for information about the local area and kept in contact to make sure we were comfortable in the cabin.
One night of our stay we were sitting on the front porch enjoying the mountain air and a mama brown owl and her babies perched in several of the pines right in front of us. She must have been teaching them to fly and hunt because WHILE WE FROZE IN DISBELIEF, the babies “talked” to each other and looked for movement on the lawn in front of and under the porch. After about 20 minutes they took off and followed mama back into the woods. We can’t stop talking about it!
We hope to return again sometime next summer or fall.
Amazing! Clean and homey!!
It was delightful!
The cabin was awesome and just what we needed for our son's wedding at Leicester Baptist.
The cabin is beautiful and just what we needed for our family to get ready for our eldest son's wedding at Leicester Baptist Church. The owner is fantastic to work with and we would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone needing to stay in the area.
Absolutely loved staying at Grey Fox Cabin. Quite remote, which was exactly what we wanted so our pups could stretch their legs. Cabin was immaculate and well stocked (thank you!). Owner very responsive prior to arrival and welcoming on day one. Only slight negative was gravel/dirt road to enter needs a little grading work. (Would have liked to know what to expect regarding road prior to arrival. Initially a little intimidating, but the cabin site is totally worth it!) Would definitely stay here again. Thank you David! Lovely home!!
Great place to stay for our family
The cabin was great. It was clean and really functional for our family of 4 plus our pup. My kids loved the loft space! It was close enough for us to enjoy Downtown Asheville and the Biltmore. We would definitely stay here again!!
