About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, Sleeps 6

Treat yourself to this unique, mid-century vacation rental getaway with its eclectic and modern decor. Tucked just one block from the peaceful beach at Arch Cape, you'll enjoy a mix of amenities from a '70s turntable to an iPod dock.

This unique coastal vacation rental retreat is perfect for entertaining, but cozy enough for a romantic weekend for two. The living area has stylish low-slung seating arranged between the sleek wood-burning fireplace and flat-screen television. The house offers modern technology (such as a generous cable package, X-Box 360, and wireless Internet).

With minimalist design, polished hardwoods, and open shelving, the well-equipped kitchen is a relaxing spot to prepare meals. The carefully chosen appliances include a range with streamlined hood, stainless steel dishwasher, and gorgeous farmhouse sink. With natural light streaming in through two wide picture windows, the four-person dining table makes an exceptionally soothing breakfast nook.

The master bedroom is spacious, with a queen bed, and private entrance to the outdoor deck. The second bedroom has a set of twin bunk beds, and even the full bath is tricked out with high-end fixtures. There's also a queen air mattress for a few extra guests to share.

And after a long day on the trails or combing the beach, gather around the gas grill for a barbecue. The surrounding yard has been beautifully landscaped, with plenty of spots to kick back with a good book in the fresh ocean air. However you spend your day, this lovely house will be a great place to come home to!

Great little hideaway!

We had a great time on the coast, and Arch Cape is a very pretty, laid-back, coastal town. My only regret is that I'm not still there.

Beautiful weekend getaway

  • 4 of 5

We spent two nights here for our 'babymoon' and loved it. Especially loved the proximity to the beach and the Scandinavian-beachy-mid-century decor. We were really bummed that the record player was broken as it was a selling point for us - so many awesome records and no way to listen.

For Informational Purposes

  • 2 of 5

I have never written a review before but feel it is appropriate to do so in this circumstance.

The damper mechanism to the fireplace was totally detached and needs to be welded back on to the flu so it can be closed to prevent the creosote smell from entering the house at windy times or when the fan above the stove is turned on. In fact, there was a note on top of fireplace mantle that warns renters not to turn on the exhaust fan above the stovetop when there is a fire in the fireplace due to drawing in smoke.

While the record player and receiver (amp) turned on, the record player arm simply skipped over the entire record. Tweaking the "anti-skip" adjustment prevented the player arm from skipping across the record, but there was still never any sound. Upon a closer examination of the stylus I discovered that the portion with the needle designed to run in the groove of the record was totally missing. So it was as if an ice skater had removed the blade of the ice skate, leaving only a flat surface that merely skidded across the top of the record. The player will not work without the stylus being replaced and the listing should be amended to remove any advertisement of enjoying the record collection until the player works.

While normal foot traffic areas were nice and clean, there was a spider that had taken up residency between the nightstand and the master bed because it was clearly evident that behind the headboard and underneath the head-end of the bed (which is a bare wood floor) hadn't been cleaned in QUITE some time - same with underneath and behind the living room sofa. TOTALLY creeped me out because I don’t like spiders at all! I should mention at this point that upon our arrival we discovered another resident spider and a hair in plain sight in the bathtub. There was no vacuum available, otherwise I would have cleaned it myself for peace of mind.

The window coverings are wholly inadequate in every room except for the bedroom. There is no privacy at night because all window coverings (except the master) are completely translucent and anyone standing outside (or driving by) is able to easily see in to the premises at night. This was true even of the bathroom. Call me prudish, but I don't like to be on display to the world after I have closed window blinds, PARTICULARLY in the bathroom, thank you. I covered the bathroom window with a towel and had to "put up" with the fact my family was clearly on display for all to see.

I would not recommend this location due to high traffic noise and non-working hot tub.

  • 2 of 5

Cute place but not as advertised. Either get the hot tub working or take it off the listing. Be aware there is a lot of traffic noise. Trucks make the house shake. Right next to 101.

Owner's Response: We apologize the hot tub was not working - it has been removed as an amenity.
