About Gary Gummig

Kansas City natives with a love of the mountains, we finally took the plunge to buy our dream home outside of Estes Park, CO in the canyon on 36 Hwy.

Gary Gummig purchased this lodge in 2011

Why Gary Gummig chose Estes Park

We wanted this to be a special place where extended families could come together, reconnect, and create new memories to be cherished for a lifetime. With the huge deck and fantastic views, you'll find yourself spending more time outside, hiking, biking, pitching horseshoes and enjoying God's creation.

What makes this lodge unique

If you're looking for seclusion, look no further. Situated on 10 beautiful wooded acres that back thousands of acres of Roosevelt National Forest, you don't have to worry about crowds! Minutes to downtown Estes and all the restaurants and shops, you can enjoy the best of both worlds.

Sit in the hot tub at night and wish on your shooting star. Amazing how bright the stars are in the mountains. Horseshoe pit off the deck is a ton of fun!

Can’t go wrong with this mountain home!

  • 5 of 5

All I can say is book early because this property books up fast. We were a party of 7 and we had plenty of room. Fall colors were at their peak and the elk were rutting. We also got a surprise 4” snow on October 2nd, and the view from the cabin was spectacular. We were in the hot tub while it was surreal. You can tell the owners take great care of this property. Can’t go wrong with this property!

Beautiful, private and well equipped.

  • 5 of 5

My family really enjoyed our time at this spacious mountain lodge. We traveled to Estes Park for a wedding and fell in love with this home, the mountain views, the privacy and yet the convenience of being close to Estes Park. The kitchen had everything we needed, the hot tub was a big hit and my parents ( aged 75 & 90 ) were very happy taking it easy in the comfortable living room furniture while the activity went on around them. I highly recommend this rental for families with members of all ages.

wonderful family getaway

  • 4 of 5

We chose this property to accommodate a family get together of 6 adults and 4 children, which was hard to find at a reasonable price. This cabin was perfect for us! The location is good in that it is secluded though still somewhat close to town. We made use of the hot tub almost every night and enjoyed the hummingbirds though didn't see much other wildlife around. The kitchen is very well equipped and we appreciated the abundant supply of drinking water too. Two minor complaints keep this property from a 5-star rating. The traffic noise from the road below was louder than expected, though only audible from the deck. Also, many of the beds seem to need replacing as a few in our group complained about them. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with this place.

Our Family Holiday!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 (my husband and I, our two grown children and their spouses, and 2 grandchildren) thoroughly enjoyed our week at Hidden Elk Lodge. The home is set up perfectly for a combination of togetherness and privacy. We gave the lovely hot tub a workout. The kitchen was so well stocked with dishes, utensils, and pans. We loved the big spice rack and were surprised to even find many staple items on the pantry shelf. Great not to have to go out and buy things like cornstarch when all you need is a few tablespoons. There was even a big bag of sugar for mixing lots of syrup for the hummingbird feeders. At times there must have been over a dozen hummingbirds at a time feasting at the feeders. They were such fun to watch! The only thing we would have wished for would have been a washer and dryer, but we managed with a couple of trips to the laundromat in town. If your family is looking for a beautiful home and a gorgeous mountain setting, Hidden Elk is the perfect place!

Wonderful property!

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful property for a family vacation! There was plenty of room for everyone, plenty to entertain everyone. The location was close enough to town that it wasn't a big drive to get there, but far enough that you were away from the hustle and bustle and crowds. My daughters even learned to play horseshoes! Thanks, Gary, for putting your beautiful home out there for others to enjoy! We will definitely book again!

Owner's Response: Glad you guys had a good time. The big question is if your daughters beat you at horseshoes! Look forward to having you back! Gary
