Terry Jordan purchased this house in 2004
Originally one of the Cabin Resorts that sprang up when Pensacola Dam created the Grand Lake O' the Cherokees in the early 1940's, the property had fallen into ruins by 1987 and left abandoned. Still, beyond the dilapidation, I could see potential and forgotten glory. A friend exclaimed, 'Are you crazy?!!...its a junkyard!'. I bought it anyway, and have enjoyed every year of renovation. FINALLY IT'S READY TO SHARE! Now everyone who sees the place is speechless - the beautiful 2-story Barnwood walls, real wood floors of Brazilian Mahogany and Native Oaks, towering ceiling heights and walls of windows, Balcony Library and spacious themed bedroom. With expansive views of Honey Creek, the nightlights view of the Bridge and cityscape is especially stunning. Beach your boat at the shoreline, play games down by the lakefront, walk to the middle of the bridge for a Sunset view, or snuggle up and chill out inside by the fireplace -- there's something for everyone at Honey Creek Lodge. Within walking distance are Marinas, Restaurants, Clubs, Dairy Queen, Walmart, and Motels. Considered the 'middle' of Grand Lake, its 30 minutes or less to anything North or South on Grand -- Shangri La Golf Course, Cherokee and Arrowhead Yacht Clubs, The Coves, Grand Lake Casino (there are 19 casinos within 30 miles of Grove!), Lendonwood Gardens, historic Cayuga Mission Church, Darrell Starbird's Hot Rod Museum.... the list of things to do and sights to see goes on and on!!! Grove is recognized as one of the Top Ten Best Places To Retire In America.
Small town feel, with all the conveniences of the city. Easy access via Will Rogers Turnpike or Cherokee Turnpike. Comfortable, accomodating, upscale home with unique lakeviews. Well-managed property with meticulous attenton to detail.
Our family enjoyed our week stay, in July immensely! We were welcomed into an absolutely beautiful home, with a welcoming cake and everything we could possibly need for the week. The home is just beautiful, with a relaxed and homey feel! The close proximity to Grove and easy access to the lake made our lake week effortless and convenient. Terry was very helpful from the start and continued to make sure we had everything we needed. I look forward to our next stay and could not say enough positive things about our experience!
A group of friends who have known each other over 50 years gathered at Honey Creek Lodge recently, and had the time of our lives! The property is spectacular, the accommodations are without equal, and amenities are exceptional, and I cannot say enough how much we enjoyed our short stay. Several of the ladies intend to bring their extended families to Honey Creek in the future, and I hope to repeat the experience more than once myself. Thank you to Terry Jordan for providing a delightful experience at Grand Lake. The lake is indeed grand, but Honey Creek Lodge is grander!
The house was much bigger than the photos show. Very well-kept and roomy. Plenty of room for a group of 8. Also in a good location with easy access to and from Honey Creek Marina, Monkey Island, Woodard Hollow and other well-known areas in the northern part of Grand Lake. Only thing I wish it had was a boat dock, even though it has a permanent mooring buoy that sufficed (and we used for 3 consecutive nights) for overnight storage on the water.
Overall, we had a great experience. The owners went out of their way to make the place feel like our home.
We chose Grand Lake as a meeting place for several families due to it's location between the parties involved; however, we got lucky when we chose Honey Creek Lodge! The place was amazing. It was very spacious, clean, and fully prepared by owners who thought out ways in advance to make the stay enjoyable for everyone. Terry and Scott thought of everything, from the fire pits that were ready to light to the paddle boat and chairs down by the lake. Our crew had a boat so lake access was a big plus. Another huge favorite was the hot tub!
The rooms were all unique and the two rooms that shared a bathroom had their own sink inside the room for added privacy. The two rooms that had a bathroom included were very well laid out as well. The main living area was very spacious and there was room for everyone. The two eating areas also allowed for plenty of space during mealtimes. It really felt like the owners had just left for the weekend and handed us the keys, or in this case, the code for the door so you don't even have to keep up with keys!
No complaints or issues; however, if there were, I felt confident that the owners would provide immediate assistance.
We definitely plan to meet again in the future and would choose this place again, without question or hesitation.
We rented the Honey Creek Lodge for the Memorial weekend and loved it. The house was beautiful and the owners provided us with everything we could have possibly needed and then some. The property is beautiful and my family really enjoyed the fire pits, paddle boat and hot tub. The house was conveniently located off a main road and is close to Honey Creek Marina, numerous restaurants, and shopping. We rent frequently through VRBO and this rental has definitely been my favorite. The owners were great to work with and I wouldn't hesitate recommending the Honey Creek Lodge to anyone.
Not only was this property beautiful it was conveniently located. What a blessing! The owner of the property is wonderful! Hope to return soon...Thank you for being true to your advertisement!
