About Barbara and Jon Robin
We traveled to Maine for the very first time in August, 2012. We drove most of the coast line from Ogunquit to Eastport and fell in love with the state. We came back in September and visited Swans Island and knew we wanted to have a home there. We bought the home in October and spent 10 days there over the Thanksgiving holiday. We travel back each spring and fall for a few months, but will let you enjoy the house in the summer and see why we fell in love with the island!
Barbara and Jon Robin purchased this House in 2012
Why Barbara and Jon Robin chose Swans Island
The location of this home with Back Cove on one side and a quiet lagoon on the other side made this the perfect choice for us. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, want to stop, listen and not hear anything, then this is the place for you. Read a book on the deck or borrow one of the books on the book case. Play board games in the evening, hike wooded trails, dig clams, watch the Lobstermen bring in their catch or sleep the day away on the deck...it's all here. Yet, you are a 30 minute ferry ride from Bass Harbor and Mt. Desert Island. It's not home away from home, it's 'relax away from home'!
What makes this House unique
The views from the house and deck make you wake up every morning and think you are in paradise! The low tides are just as pretty as the high tides! Seeing the sea gulls swoop down, pick up a clam or mussel, then fly high over the big boulders that line the shoreline and drop them to crack them open and then eat them is mesmerizing! We like to follow one bird and see where they pick their clam and then guess which boulder they will fly to, drop and eat! We chose this property over others due to the serene location and ocean views. Make sure you check out Fine Sand Beach, the Quarry swimming hole and TIMS take out - Friday night is pizza night, but order early! Goose Pond is about a mile walk…some may want to crest the ridge behind it for the view of the Atlantic and walk down to the ocean beach. Hike to Noah's Ballast and enjoy the views of Frenchboro! Check out the bold coast on High Head Beach on the east side of the island. Make the short drive to Hockamock Head Lighthouse. The views are amazing and you will want to see it at low tide and high tide to experience the crashing waves. There are several trails around the lighthouse that take you to 2 different beaches. Want to dig clams or muscles? Wait for low tide and look for the small holes in the sand! Grab a shovel and start digging!!

Secluded, beautiful and well maintained property. The island was such a wonderful and unique destination . If you desire to truly "getaway" this is the place for you!
Thanks Monica! Glad you enjoyed your stay at Robin House! Hope you can come back soon!
Wonderful house and property, better than advertised!
Robin house provided a terrific vacation for our family. The house was very well maintained and equipped with a huge supply of household items. We were easily able to contact the host with a few questions and received helpful answers. This is a great place for hiking, biking and swimming. We recommend finding the blue trail (marked by blue rocks) which starts a mile or so from the house.
Glad you and your family enjoyed your time at Robin House on Swans Island! Come back sometime!
This was our first time on Swans Island. It was an wonderful experience. The location is very nice, just by the water, so we could launch our kayaks from there.
The kitchen is very well equipped and clean. Lots of pots to boil lobsters. Very quiet setting, you quickly adapt to the rhythm of the island. People are very friendly.
We plan to return. One of the best rentals we had.
Thanks Barbara and Jon!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed your your stay! Let us know hen you want to return!
Great Vacation Home
Our family had a wonderful time at Robin House this summer. The kitchen was recently updated and looks great and served all our needs. The property is secluded and peaceful, a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Swans Island. The Island Market (TIMS), Fine Sand Beach, and the Carrying Place are all close by. We have rented a number of different houses on Swans Island and Robin House is by far the best!
Glad you enjoyed your stay again this year! Look forward to having you stay in the future!
We had the best time!
Thank you so much to the Robin's. Our stay was fabulous and the house was perfect for all of us. The large and open dining room and living room were just perfect and of course the decks and chairs overlooking the water.
The house was so well stocked it was unbelievable. We can't wait to be able to do this family trip again. Thank you thank you thank you for opening your beautiful home and property to us.
Gordon, we are so glad you and your family were able to come back again to Swans Island! Let us know if you would like to visit again!!
This review is long overdue...
What a GREAT place! It was our first time staying on the island, and we could not have found a better house in a better location. The plot of land along the coast was tranquil. The Island provided great hiking trails. Our hosts communicated frequently as our stay got closer. All our questions were answered immediately. The place was beautiful and clean. Our son says it's our best vacation ever...
Alcohol cannot be purchased on the island, but can be brought onto the island. There is a small grocery/convenience store on the island for basics. You will want to do your shopping prior to getting on the ferry. Both Ellsworth and Bar Harbor have large grocery stores.
