This charming cottage is nestled in a lush tropical garden behind a classic Spanish Revival home in the heart of beautiful Belmont Heights. Ideally located three palm-lined blocks away from the restaurants, shopping and bars of trendy 2nd Street in Belmont Shore and six blocks from the beach, this delightful property is close enough to be walking distance from all the fun while far enough away to guarantee peace, quiet, plentiful parking, and easy access to freeways and all of Southern California.

Upon arriving at the property, you'll feel the California/Beach vibe inherent in the neighborhood. As you make your way up and through the wrought iron gates you'll get your first look at the lushness and warmth of the back yard area where your cottage awaits. Amid the palms, ponds and inviting seating areas in the back yard, you'll see your cottage, built in 1922, and all yours.

A private porch awaits you with a bistro set, the perfect place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee. Inside, the living area features a comfortable sitting area with a queen sleeper sofa that can sleep an additional 2 guests. The dining area overlooks the garden area, enjoys great morning sun and features french doors that open out onto the private porch area. If you're visiting on business, the executive-style desk area gives you ample space to spread out and work. When the day is done, a clever dry bar area holds ice bucket, glassware, wine opener, and shaker to help aid the transition from daytime to evening.

The bedroom is cozy and comfortable, featuring a queen bed with 500 count sheets, and a second flat-screen TV with cable and DVR (this time a 24'). The en suite bath is efficient but complete, with a tub/shower combination, pedestal sink and full closet.

The kitchen is great for those spending a little more time with us, as it features a full-sized refrigerator and range, microwave, coffee makers, toaster, and complete dishware, cutlery and cooking paraphernalia. Or, if you're not in the mood to cook, pick up something hot & tasty from the corner gourmet grocery just five doors down, or drop into one of more than 30 restaurants on 2nd street, 3 blocks away.

The shared garden/patio area is a place to enjoy the beautiful mild weather of Southern California. There's a waterfall and pond, firepit, and comfortable sitting areas. Nearby is a dining area seating six.

Best of all is the location of this little oasis--close to everything, but a haven of tranquility when you arrive home again. We look forward to welcoming you, and doing all we can to insure a fun and restful visit.

We rarely stay in hotels and use vacation rentals whenever possible. Dennis and Mark could not have been more accommodating! Everything was perfect! We arrived to find a cute and cozy cottage which was decorated very nicely. There was plenty of room for the two of us. There was also a very nice welcome basket that was over the top! I have to say though, the yard was what we fell in love with. We had our coffee outside every morning near the water features. We were gone most of the day but when we returned around 10:00 every night, we flipped the switch to the fire pit and enjoyed the fire. Mark and Dennis were the perfect hosts! They gave great suggestions where to eat and what to visit. They even lent us their two bikes to use for a whole day. Dennis asked what we would add or change and I made the suggestion to add a makeup mirror in the bathroom. That afternoon he had it ordered! They really want their guests to be at home. Our daughter is moving home from Long Beach in June so now we really don't have a reason to go back to that area. We might go anyway, just to stay in this cottage again and enjoy the beautiful yard!

I'd be tempted to write a terrible review to keep this gem off the radar and to myself, but clearly that ship has sailed. I'm not sure what can be said that hasn't been said a dozen times before more eloquently than I could. If this was what every VRBO was like hotels would be a thing of the past. Cozy, calming, charming, thoroughly outfitted, well situated, and fairly priced with cool, laid back hosts, this place is the best of Southern California and I'll be back every chance I get--assuming I can get a reservation! Thank you, Dennis for an amazing stay.

The house, the garden, the flair of this nice place is a great to find peace and relaxation.

The closeness to the 2nd street with lots of Retaurants and Bars makes this place once more to an place to come back!

The pictures are exactly what you see and the space is perfect for 2 people. The patio, fountain and firepit really are part of the charm and they have supplied any amenity we would have thought to ask and then some. We got the cutest welcome basket of thoughtful snacks and even a variety of coffee creamers for our morning coffee. We booked this VRBO with plans to go to the Aquarium and Dark Harbor on the Queen Mary, which was either a long walk on the beach or 15 minute Uber ride away. Over-all, our stay was a relaxing home away from home and I will go back again.

Dennis and Mark are awesome and thoughtful hosts. Communication before our arrival and during our stay was great. Dennis greeted us outside and welcomed us in to his home, showing us our little bungalow which is on the same property as his main house. My family was instantly comfortable and relaxed. The surrounding neighborhoods are also so beautiful and are safe to go for late night walks. Restaurants, bars, entertainment, and the (dog) beach are all only a short car ride or walk away. Dennis and Mark had everything you can think of and we didn’t have to worry about anything. We definitely recommend staying here if you want a peaceful little oasis in Long Beach. Our stay at this property made us fall more in love with the city of Long Beach! We’ll be back for sure! Thank you Dennis and Mark, we appreciate the awesome experience you created for my family and I.

Close to Beach

The owners were very helpful and welcoming even allowing us to drop off some cold food early so it wouldn't spoil. The location is excellent if you want to be close to Long and Huntington Beaches. Tight for two people. Could use some upgrades to lighting and the addition of a door to the bedroom that currently uses a curtain. Over-all very clean with beach gear and towels for use.
