About Sophie Jakobson
We are Sophie and Alex, a British couple living in Brooklyn who fell in love with the very English feel of the Hudson Valley, its wonderful proximity to New York City and this house's wonderful old charm. We have two little'uns.
Sophie Jakobson purchased this Farmhouse in 2012
Why Sophie Jakobson chose Clinton Corners
We love the old charm of this property with its views of the rolling hills and its shady landscaped garden and stunning swimming pool.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
The house has two living rooms, so it always feels spacious, a large eat in kitchen as well as a large dining room. A fabulous heated outdoor pool and a sauna, giant trampoline, table tennis and toy filled playroom. The perfect retreat for entertaining groups and families.

Comfy Country Charm
Our family of 10 spent a week in this awesome house! The place was a wonderland for children, grown-ups, and pooch alike. The kids only left the play room to eat or sled in the yard. We came up for my father's memorial service and there were plenty of comfy places for family to visit and reminisce. The steps into the place were a small challenge for my disabled cousin, but otherwise we managed beautifully with her rolling walker. The kitchen was well equipped and made cooking for a crowd as easy as at home. We loved the old world charm and personality of the place, perhaps with the exception of the low door frame to the laundry room which my husband kept bumping his noggin on. LOL. Sophie was great to deal with long distance as we made arrangements for our visit and was always very fast to respond if we had a need. If/when we return to the area we will absolutely stay here again.
Lovely classic country home
Everything was clean and organized. We loved the large wood burning fireplace. Outdoor area is great for kids.
Lovely home...well equipped
We had a nice stay, house was very comfortable and cozy.
Wonderful house, perfect for families, beautiful grounds
This has been one of our favorite houses to stay as a family. The house is a charming old farmhouse, beautifully decorated and so comfortable. Our children, 5 and 6, loved the playroom and the grounds - so much it was hard to get them out of the door to explore the area. There were all kinds toys and games for children, ping pong table, basketball, trampoline, and pool, which unfortunately it was to cold to use. Sophie was incredibly accommodating, especially given that we only booked the property the day before. She had it cleaned and ready before we arrived. Location is very convenient to the towns in the Hudson Valley and also the Litchfield area. There were directions and suggestions on where to eat and go that were very useful. We hope to visit again soon.
Very kid friendly house with the playroom
The active wood burning fireplace was great for a cold winter weekend.
The house has everything you need.
The only note I would mention is that the house has Tv but not regular cable, Netflix only.
Wonderful home, full of charm!
We had an absolutely lovely long weekend at this property. We were six adults, three 3-year-olds, a crawling baby, and a small dog, and we all fit very well. The house was beautiful and well-appointed -- everything in a way that blended old and new.
Things we loved:
-outdoor space (esp. trampoline and hammock)
-beautiful and well-appointed kitchen
-THE PLAYROOM (we could've left the 3-year-olds in there for hours!!)
-ability to close off the driveway for increased safety and privacy
-big dining area
-kid-friendly everything (pack and play, high chair, utensils/dishware, toys, etc)
-very friendly and responsive host
-generally knowing we were in someone's home, and enjoying the little touches of personality (I've stayed in some places that exist only to be rented out, and they feel so sterile! this felt like staying in your friend's home)
-low ceilings (if you are taller than 5'10", you WILL hit your head in the kitchen or on the way up to the bedroom over the kitchen)
-limited ventilation options when the weather's warm
Our house at Clinton Corners in located in the beautiful Hudson River Valley, about an hour and a half north of Manhattan. It is an amazing area- so much to do and see.
There are many historic homes that are open to visitors. Worth visiting are The Roosevelt Mansion - home of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, The Vanderbilt Mansion, Olana- the Persian inspired home of the painter Frederic Church, and Mills Mansion which has a fabulous sledding hill sloping down to the Hudson River.
The quality of fresh local food and really fine restaurants here is incredible. There are winery’s, cheese -makers, grass fed organic meat’s of all kinds, family run farms and orchards. Millbrook has a wonderful farmers market on Saturday which is worth checking out.
If you are partial to a spot of antiquing then look no further than the town of Hudson, Millbrook or Saugerties and if you like walking then the beautiful countryside alone is definitely worth checking out.
