Big house on a big island

  • 5 of 5

From the comfy beds & furniture, to the well equipped kitchens, to the sun deck with a hot tub I don't know how anyone doesn't give this place 5 stars, especially considering the value. Location is nice because a 5 minute drive is all you need to find some awesome experiences. Make a right onto Ali'i Drive and you find yourself in the heart of Kona, make a left on Ali'i and find yourself at magic sand beach (swim/snorkel next to sea turtles here!) The big island is well BIG and will require some drive time to fully experience everything it has to offer, but I wouldn't hesitate booking this place again. Kona is my favorite side of the island and this great house is perfect to base your next great vacation!

Fabulous visit to the big Island which was enhanced by the wonderful place we stayed

  • 5 of 5

I was traveling with my husband, a friend, and my sister and brother-in-law. The place was perfect. The bedrooms with each having it's own bathroom were great. The kitchen was well equipped and fun to cook in as the group could all participate or supervise. Loved the location. Easy to get downtown but well out of the crowds. Overall the décor, comfort, and amenities were exactly what we were looking for. I got major kudos for choosing the house. We are thinking of coming back next year.

Lovely stay

This house is a great value. Lots of room to spread out, pretty and comfortable, well equipped with everything we needed, a very responsive caretaker when we had questions and we enjoyed the rooftop hot tub. Thank you!

Good Budget Accomodation

  • 3 of 5

I rented this home based on the very positive reviews it received and was swayed, uncharacteristically, by the good price per night, when compared to other available rentals in the area. While I would not return to this home based on my own preferences (the same goes for the rest of the people in my group), I also would not discourage others from considering it. It is a big home, very good for 2 or 3 couples (or for a family). On a price per square foot basis, this is surely a 5-star rental for ocean shore area. The owner is friendly and responsive. The AC worked well and there were 3 dedicated parking spaces. It's true the house is well equipped with kitchen items, towels and beach gear (although some of it was old/broken). Its location on the island is both a plus (centrally located in Kona, if Kona is your thing) and a minus (very busy, loud street, lots of people/traffic and cruise ship tourists). The disappointments for our group included no good outdoor space (the third floor patio looks better in the pictures, we never used it or the leaking hot tub, would have been too loud anyway), worn out/uncomfortable/too large/broken furnishings (especially on the main floor, second floor family room/kitchen was bigger/less used, therefore nicer), a king bed frame that squeaked loudly with every tiny movement, some broken plumbing fixtures (they worked, but should be repaired) and general outdoor property untidiness/neglect. In short, it was not a relaxing home for our group. My hope for other travelers (and the nice owner) is that the deferred maintenance and deferred furnishings/bedding replacement is addressed so the home continues to be rented regularly and enjoyed by future travelers.

Loved Kona and this house is FABULOUS!!!

  • 5 of 5

I went to Kona with my sister, my son and his wife, and my nephew and his wife. All of us loved this house. This house is amazing. We had plenty of room for all of us. The three baths were great. I can't say enough about this house. We only had seven days and six nights here. Next time I will book it longer. We hated to leave. The view on the rooftop sundeck is so beautiful. My son, nephew, and their wives used the hot tub every night after a long day. The sunsets were amazing. I went up every morning to look out over the ocean and to hear the birds sing. I also love the décor inside the house. We barbecued on the outdoor barbecue. Tina and Tim Wilkinson were great. Thank you Tina for everything. I definitely want to come back and enjoy your home again. What more can I say. AMAZING!!!!

Ideal accommodation on the Kona side

  • 5 of 5

We walked into the house for the first time late at night, and immediately noticed that everything was gleaming! The house had been immaculately prepared for our arrival, and was well-stocked with everything from kitchen supplies to toilet paper to beach toys.

We enjoyed the fact that there were no carpets, and that the air conditioning was so quiet. The main kitchen downstairs was very well-equipped with cookware and spices. The upstairs kitchen/bar was a bonus with an additional fridge and more basic facilities. We did notice that the upstairs microwave was not working – I’m sure that will be taken care of soon.

The house had obviously been recently renovated, and was tastefully finished and decorated with Hawaiian art and carvings. The hot tub on the roof was a favourite start to the day for some and became a yoga studio too. Loved sunsets from the beach access just a short ways down the road.

We could not have asked for a better location on Ali’i Drive. Great place to hang out, when we weren’t out and about! Lots of room for the three couples that were travelling together.

Thanks for sharing your place! Aloha till next time.
