No better place to stay in SD. One of only two historic high rises in downtown SD, designated and protected by the state of CA. One of the most historic hotels in CA and used to be the states tallest building. No other way to stay in a place of history while enjoying all SD has to offer. It is the most central location, because the original developers had their pick of the real estate back in 1927. That's why it is on top of the hill looking down at the rest of the city.
Simply loved it!
I stayed at this condo with three friends and we loved it!!
The hosts were very nice and thoughtful, they answered all of our questions and also provide us with other options.
The condo is perfect for four, even though there is just one bed room all of us got to sleep very comfortable because the condo provides an aero bed.
When it came to eating; we had every single tool at the kitchen, there is also a convenience store downstairs and a restaurant which made everything easier.
What enchanted us is that everything is really closed by, restaurants, bars, the stadium, the sea. We rarely took a cab and when we did it was less than 5 dollars.
My friends and I loved everything about it that we are already planning to come back!
Beautiful condo, great location
We stayed in this unit for the month of February. The unit is tastefully decorated and suited this beautiful historic building which has been restored to it's original splendour. The kitchen is well stocked with everything utensil you could want. Art, the owner was very helpful and quick to respond to questions. The location was excellent, within walking distance to Balboa Park, harbour, restaurants and shopping. Unit was quiet. We would be happy to return to San Diego's beautiful weather and this lovely unit.
August in San Diego
The condo was wonderful. We had everything we needed. The building was beautiful and the pool area was like having a private pool. We will be coming back. Walking distance to convention center and all shopping.
Quiet apartment at the end of the hall.
We stayed 4 weeks in this lovely little apartment. Art, the owner is helpful and quick to respond to questions. Parking garage is a must and the attendants are nice and helpful but you may park your own car if you choose. Gym is a clean and small but adequate. We enjoyed our stay.
Affordable Luxury In Downtown San Diego
We stayed for 3 months in 2013 in this condo in downtown San Diego. This condo is like being in a beautiful home. The building is up on a hill, so it gets nice breezes and is more quiet. It is convenient to have a market, restaurant and drycleaner in the same building. The garage valets provide security and keep a close eye on your car, and will even park it for you if you are “parking challenged” like I am! There is a beautiful pool, a nice large outdoor grill, outdoor patio tables & chairs & lounges, and an excellent fitness center and hot tub all in the same building. The Cortez building itself has a Spanish-style façade with flags of several nations across the front. The condo itself is decorated in the latest design trends with heavy, flowing drapery that provides complete privacy when needed, and opens to let the light and views in. The kitchen is a chef’s dream, with every appliance and gadget needed. The lighting is all on dimmers and makes you feel like you are in a stately home. The flatscreen TV’s in the living and bedroom are in HD and have more channels than you could ever need (including several beautiful music channels), and the internet is plenty fast. The bed is huge and comfortable, full of pillows and fine bedding. There are views of Balboa Park and Coronado Bridge, since it is a corner condo with windows on two sides. Art & Karla, the owners are fantastic people and are always available for advice or help. You will be close enough to easily walk to the Gaslamp District or a Padres game like we did, but far enough away from the crowds of people so it feels more like a home. Easy access to I-5 and the 163, makes day trips a breeze. We loved our stay and hope to return!
