About Ron Wood (Owner) or John Oldham (Agent/Manager)

Fish Hawk was designed and built by Ronald Wood (owner), a Harvard Design School Graduate/Professor. It has been a labor of love from inception through completion. In 1986 Ron bought 38 acres on Seal Harbor with almost 1/2 mile of shoreline frontage including the best Beach on the Island (Big Tree Beach) and precious little private beaches on each of the 5 waterfront lots subsequently created.

Why Ron Wood (Owner) or John Oldham (Agent/Manager) chose Mid-Coast & Islands

Lot 4C, 122 Big Tree Lane, has 5+ private acres - the best of the 5 lots created at Big Tree Beach with over 450' of private frontage and 270 degrees of water views over Seal Harbor and Penobscot Bay. Orientation is SSW affording beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

What makes this house unique

Benefits - like beauty - lie in the eye of the beholder. Fish Hawk provides the ultimate for kicking back and letting the beauty that surrounds you carry you through the day and evening. The biggest challenge: To decide where to have cocktails and what to have for dinner. After all, one cannot eat lobster every day, right?

On the other hand, there is plenty to do. For those who love to sail, there are charters and boat excursions, an Island sponsored sailing program. The Island has a myriad of hiking opportunities, public parks and beaches, the best of which is 'Big Tree Beach' within easy walking distance. But the real attraction to most families is the opportunity to bond with family members and friends taking part in local events. The Island has an ambiance of simplicity reminiscent of years gone by -with just general stores and endless opportunities for picnics, walks and marvelous sunsets.

Gorgeous and tranquil

  • 5 of 5

My family had a wonderful time at this beautiful house. What a perfect spot. Islesboro is so quiet - a perfect getaway. I would advise someone visiting there to bring bikes or kayaks - in order to make the most of their stay.

Best week away from my stressful life.

This is our second stay here in Islesboro thru the goodness of the owner. The house is beautiful and the view is spectacular. You can just sit on the living or family room watching the ebbs and flow of the tides while enjoying the view of the lobsterman and casual boaters, sailers from a distance. You will wake up to the sound of the birds and tides kissing the shoreline inviting you to explore. Plus, use the canoe, row boat and fishing rods. The beach is 100 meters away from the house. If your brave enough to swim, water felt like you just did the ice bucket challenge. And don't forget to watch the sunset and take a lot of pictures...
