I am a single mother with three children and built this property in 2004 as a gathering spot for us and my extended family. We gather here in the month of July every year and it is open for visitors during the other eleven months.
Cynthia purchased this house in 2004
Makaha is quiet and feels like old Hawaii and we love waking up to the roosters and bird songs each morning. We chose Makaha for it's beautiful sunsets, inspiring mountain ranges and uncrowded beaches. Most days, we stay on this coast, enjoying our local BBQ and shave ice spots, chill beaches, Ko Olina for the hotels and Kapolei for shopping, trampoline fun and the Wet n Wild Water Park. We also love that Oahu has so many options to drive to when we are feeling adventurous.
It is unique to find a property with 6 en-suite bedrooms, private pool, ocean views and nightly sunsets that allows a large group to stay together without breaking the bank
Entered from house Guestbook:
We loved staying in your beautiful home for our vacation. Our children arrived with us and my cousin along with my husband's brother and wife. We had a wonderful time. This was our third vacation to Oahu and your home more than met our standards. The beaches on this side of the island are beautiful and not quite as crowded as the rest of the island. We are already planning our next vacation to Oahu!

We loved this house for our 10 people stay, we had 2 families and an extra adult. The A/C works amazing upstairs and in the downstairs there are lots of fans. You can also open a patio door with screen in each room as well as the kitchen living room area.
We loved the large upstairs kitchen and decor was very nice. We didn't spend much time in the downstairs living area but it was neat that there was a whole other kitchen and living room if you wanted to have another area to use. The pool is not heated but you get used to the temp in about 2 minutes and it is fine, our kids had a blast and it was awesome that there was bookie boards, inflatables and snorkel gear flippers form other people that had left them there.
The fridge having an ice maker was great for drinks and the blenders worked well for margaritas. there are several coffee makers to enjoy the amazing Hawaiian coffee and a Keureg machine as well.
The wrap around deck was beautiful, the front of the home faces the ocean for spectacular sunsets and the rear and sides face the mountains making sunrises amazing as well.
Every bedroom has a bathroom plus on extra one down stairs so there is no need to fight over showers or anything else.
The wifi worked reasonably well considering we had around 10 people connected nice cable TV.
You are minutes away from the beach (about a kilometer) and the beaches are not nearly as crowded as ones by Honolulu. The little town has some convenience stores and small grocery stores but we did make the 30 minute trip to the larger town several times to hit up Target or a movie etc.
The only downside of this place is perhaps the location as it is in a low income area, the town and general subdivision felt a bit worn down and the local parks and facilities were really kind of gross. I don't say that to be snobby but if you are expecting a glamourus sub division with pristine sidewalks etc be prepared (the local convenience store locks the cooler you get drinks from and there is a security guard out front) There are also large dogs in everyone's gated homes to protect them, they don't cause problems but are a bit intimidating when you walk past. We never felt unsafe here but I did want to mention it. Compared to the other neighborhoods of Hawaii that I have stayed in its not particularly lovely. That being said I really did like the property so you get more good than bad. Location, layout and amenities were great, clean. Very nice manager.
Cynthia ’s vacation home is large garden and swimming pool and beautiful place was full of flowers.
The bedrooms and kitchens were well arranged and the barbecue facilities were very good.
Twelve of my friends spent a happy four nights here. Thank You...!!
This house was perfect for me and my family! I loved that each bedroom had a bathroom and a patio door. The pool was perfect! I would love to come back and stay here again!
Truly a great property that afforded the privacy that four subsets of families (including six grands aged nearly 12 down to nearly two) needed for our 9-night visit to our beloved Hawaii! Loved the living spaces, kitchen, 360 views afforded by the wrap decking, the pool, and more! Air-conditioning in the downstairs would have been a bonus - but all really good! Mahalo Nui loa! The stay there was great, just wish that we could have ran the AC 24-7 only because I'm not use to the heat there in Hawaii. I'm from Alaska. So the heat was a big difference to me.
It was nice and quiet, and private.
I would like to start by saying thank you so much to the owner of this house! I visit Oahu annually with my entire family and this is going to be the house we stay at every year! In these times it is very rare to find truly honest and good people and Cynthia is truly amazing! She not only has a beautiful home but she genuinely has a great heart and cares for people. She assisted greatly in a personal issue that arose that was not her problem. She showed me something that I very rarely experience with strangers....that was compassion, understanding, and caring. I will rent this home every year! Thank you for everything and God bless you!
Closest Beach is 6 blocks walk from this property. Beautiful Makaha Valley Golf borders this property and is a few minute drive up the road (prices are very reasonable), Famous Scuba Spot is only 5 minutes away, Ko Olina is 20 minutes away with beautiful wedding facilities, resorts, restaurants and Luaus, Kapolei is the next exit after Ko Olina and there you will find Hawaiian Waters Theme Park, Large Cinema, great restaurants, K-Mart, Home Depot and other shops. There are two grocery stores within 5 minutes of the home, Long's Drugs, gas stations, fast food, Subway and other simple restaurants are all near the home. A nice restaurant, with full bar, is located at the Golf Resort up the hill. There is ample room to park three cars at the top of the driveway.
