About the property

5 Bedrooms,3 Baths,22 Acres Of Woods And Meadow,a View Of The Sentinel Range.

This seasonal Lodge, on 22 acres, is located 2 miles outside of Keene. There are no neighbors in sight from the Lodge. This is a newly renovated home with five bedrooms and three full bath rooms. The master bed room is located up stairs on the north side. It has a queen bed and its own bathroom.Downstairs on the north side are two bedrooms. One has a queen bed and the other has two twin beds. They share a common bath room. Up stairs on the south side, there are two bedrooms. One has two twin beds and one has a full size bed. They share a bathroom.

The fully equipped new kitchen has a gas range, microwave, dishwasher, large refrigerator, and the usual kitchen appliances and cooking utensils. There is a second refrigerator off the dining room.

The dining room, which is open to the kitchen and living room, can comfortably seat 12 people at the new hand made pine and birch table. French doors open off the dining room onto a large deck over looking the meadow. On the deck you will find chairs to relax in, a picnic table with benches, and a gas grill.

The great room, with its vaulted ceiling, has seating for 12 people. There is a gas fireplace for those chilly nights. Upstairs on the south side there is a family room, with TV, DVD player, DVDs, games and a gas fire place for your enjoyment. The family room and the deck off the family room have a partial view of the Sentinel Range.

There is no telephone land line and mobile phone reception is limited. Verizon gets the best reception.

The front porch is a great place to unwind in Adirondack chairs. Step off the porch and there are 22 acres to explore. The large meadow has a fire pit with seating. There is firewood in the nearby lean-to.

There are several well marked trails which take you up Eisenglass Mountain. Along the way there are views of Hurricane Mt. and the High Peaks to the south. The trails are one of our favorite hikes to take, and is great for first time young hikers.

The woods are full of variety, color and boulders...they are a wonderful place to walk. In season, wild raspberry's abound, and on many days deer are in the meadow.

Within a short distance you can be hiking the High Peaks, swimming in any one of the nearby swimming spots, or just relaxing at one of the local restaurants.

Less than 10 minutes by car is Owls Head Mountain, which offers a good short hike with lovely views of Keene Valley and Cascade Mountain.

We are just 35 minutes from the ferry to Vermont. The ferry ride is spectacular, with views of the Adirondacks and the Green Mountains.

About James Gocker, Manager

We have lived in the Rochester area our whole life and have always enjoyed the outdoors.

James Gocker, Manager purchased this house in 2011

Why James Gocker, Manager chose Whiteface Mountain

Our family has vacationed in the Adirondacks for many years. We fell in love with the High Peaks area and were fortunate to acquire Rock Meadow Lodge in 2011. Since then, we have had wonderful family times making the Lodge into our home and enjoying the mountains, our children and our grandchildren. There is nothing like the peacefulness of the mountains and adventures to be found in the Adirondacks to make for great family vacation.

What makes this house unique

We were taken by Rock Meadow Lodge because of its central location, peaceful setting, acres to explore and the mountains to be seen.

Refreshing Oasis

  • 5 of 5

The Rock Meadow Lodge made for a perfect vacation for our family. This property is immaculate and well cared for inside and out. The pictures don't capture just how beautiful this home and property is. It is well appointed and has everything one needs for a great vacation. The kitchen is ideal for making meals and is well stocked with plenty of pots, pans, dishes, etc. The home is spacious and there are so many different sitting areas for relaxing, reading, and napping. The 3 bathrooms and 5 bedrooms had plenty of room for our family to spread out. The fire pit made for fun evenings making s'mores and hanging out with our college-age kids. There is a great trail on the property with views of a few of the 'high peaks' at the top. There is plenty to do in this centrally-located area including some of the best hiking the Adirondacks has to offer. Lake Placid is only 20 minutes away with more hiking, grocery stores, restaurants, and sight-seeing. Keene is less than 5 minutes away with some great places to eat as well. Our family has traveled all over the U.S. using VRBO. This home is truly a special one and is one of our favorites. The family who owns this home manages it themselves which is always a bonus. Their communication is wonderful and they are great to work with. You feel right at home and so comfortable in their vacation home. It made for a very memorable vacation for us!

Just perfect!!!

  • 5 of 5

Where to begin? Our recent visit to Rock Meadow Lodge was our third visit to this beautiful home. We have found this roomy home perfect for us with private space for each of our families. The kitchen is well provisioned and the gorgeous handmade dining table is spacious for family meals. The sitting areas and entertainment center offer space for games, videos as well as quiet reading time.

The outdoor space at Rock Meadow Lodge is as well cared for as the indoor. The meadow offers open lawn space for family activities and the fire pit is a favorite spot to toast marshmallows and to do some star gazing. The nighttime sky in this great location is majestic! The area feels very private as access is on a dirt road with very little traffic. The spacious deck is a wonderful gathering space at the beginning and end of the day.

The hosts have provided literature about the area which is centrally located. Access to the high peaks, Lake Placid, outdoor recreation, swimming and a farmer's market is nearby. Communication with Julie and Jim has always been easy. It is obvious that they love their home and the area and work hard to make their guests comfortable. We very much hope to return to Rock Meadow Lodge.

Perfect Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

For the third year in a row, we spent a long weekend at Rock Meadow Lodge with a group of friends. Living in New York City, this house is the perfect getaway. It's super cozy and has plenty of space for our large group and the way the bedrooms are situated, you still have lots of privacy even with a large group (8 people and a baby). The property is gorgeous and there are trails you can access directly from the backyard. If you want a more challenging hike, it's just a 10 minute drive to some of the most gorgeous mountains in the north east. However, our favorite part of the house is the fire pit!! it's perfect for hours of relaxing and catching up with friends. Jim and Julie are the best hosts and always make sure we have everything we need for a wonderful weekend. We will definitely be back next year.

An ideal spot

  • 5 of 5

My family and a few friends spent a week at Rock Meadow Lodge and had a wonderful time.

I highly recommend the house for its layout, amenities, location and private setting.

It is obvious how much the owners love this place because it is so well cared for.

I felt comfortable there from the moment I walked in and hope to rent the lodge again sometime in the future.

A Perfect Canadian Thanksgiving!!

  • 5 of 5

At the risk of having too many people book this marvellous spot, I will give an honest review! :)

We are a group of hikers from Ontario, Canada and have chosen the Adirondacks for our Canadian Thanksgiving. It's an awesome place with incredible colours and superb hiking so what better venue than here.

We walked into Rock Meadow Lodge and the home seemed to go on and on. With 5 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, we were able to spread out and be able to have our private spaces, but come together in the common areas. The dining room table seats 10 or 12 people and is made out of a single piece of wood. The kitchen is spacious and up to date and fully supplied with everything you could ask for. The bedrooms are also spacious and there is even an additional living room upstairs if one wants to get away and read quietly. The outside decks are fantastic to and while it was a bit cold to sit out, we did get in a few minutes outside after a hike one day. The owners have thought of every possible convenience and accessories to make one feel like they were right at home. There was even a washer and dryer plus an additional fridge. The property was spotlessly clean too. There were way too many features to list here. But bottom line is Wow!

I have rented many properties over the years and this one certainly tops them all. We will surely return again and can't thank Jim and Julie enough for allowing folks like us to rent the property. And also thankyou for the wonderful maple syrup you left for us. It was well enjoyed!
