About Casa Paso Fino

We first discovered Esperanza six years ago on a day trip to Vieques. A family of four, two of us recently out of college and two of us long out of college, arrived by publico from the ferry and said, 'Oh! Where's this?!' We have all four returned every year since, first as renters and then as home owners. Unfortunately, we cannot stay all year! We invite you to share our home with us and enjoy Esperanza.

Casa Paso Fino purchased this house in 2009

Why Casa Paso Fino chose Vieques

A perfect location for couples or multi-generational families. Everyone can choose his own activity or beach by day, gathering a sunset in the rooftop eating pavilion with sweeping views of the Esperanza harbor and Caribbean beyond. Quiet street yet close to everything!

What makes this house unique

Property is located on the highest and most quiet street in Esperanza, yet within easy walking distance of the Malecon (promenade along the waterfront), where one can enjoy drinks, food, and salsa music in bistros while gazing at the sea (at often at passing Paso Fino riders)! A grocery and bakery are also close by. Sun Bay, the largest beach on the island, begins at the end of the Malecon.

Comfortable home with awesome view

  • 4 of 5

Our family of five enjoyed this home. Amazing view from the living room and the 3rd floor open air room. The home is an 8 min walk into Esperanza. Easy and safe walk. There is a bakery a couple blocks away and my son (age 9) loved walking there by himself and picking up bread and goodies.

the home isn't large but we weren't on top of each other. the living room double doors open up onto a small patio making the room feel very open and large.

The kitchen and bathrooms were well appointed with essentials. There is a washer and dryer were great (no fee required) and the outdoor shower was probably used the most for taking showers after hitting the beaches.

Roberta and her local caretaker were super helpful with answering questions and providing suggestions.

Very Nice

  • 4 of 5

Comfortable and breezy. Nice views and location. Away from the noise of the main road, but close enough to walk to restaurants and beaches. Relaxing, laid back, island experience.

Great location in Esperanza

  • 5 of 5

We loved Casa Paso Fino, which had breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea and just a 10-15 minute walk to the Malecon (main oceanfront strip). The rooftop patio was awesome! We had way more room than we needed, as we only had 3 people, but each of us enjoyed having our own room! The kitchen was well stocked and we wish we'd taken inventory before grocery shopping as we double upped on several items. Mini split AC units in all the bedrooms were much appreciated for sleeping, but sleeping in was challenging with all the animal sounds in the neighborhood-roosters crowing, dogs barking etc. Bring ear plugs if you don't get up early!

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

This was the second time my husband, our 9-year old and I traveled to Vieques; first time staying here and we loved it. We rented the top floor and thoroughly enjoyed the bright decor, well appointed kitchen, beautiful view and especially the roof-top deck. Every night we three went up and lay out on the loungers to bask in the panoramic star-gazing. So lovely.

The beds were really comfortable and I appreciated the air conditioning. When the handle broke in one of the bathrooms, I called Aurelio, the local man who attends the house (and who also met us at the airport) and he had a plumber there that same afternoon. Not a problem at all! It was my son's birthday while we were there, and I called Gladys, the woman who cleans and watches the house, to see if she knew where I could buy a cake, and she made a delicious lemon cake for us from scratch!

We live in Boston and on the date we were to leave a huge storm was coming. I contacted Roberta and told her that we were trying to leave Boston early to get to San Juan and then to Vieques. She could not have been nicer: even arranging to have her cleaning people come early and let us in a day early!

We were at Casa Fina for two weeks. My husband and I are both self employed and needed the internet for daily check-ins. My only issue with the place is that the internet is not at all reliable. Of course this is not the owners' fault--it is an island! The solution was to get a "hot spot" on my phone which worked pretty well in the end.

We did rent a Jeep the second year and were glad for it as the beaches are amazing, though Sun Bay is not a far walk at all. This is a great location and a nice neighborhood. No loud neighbors and the roosters kept their distance (though as a light-sleeper, I was glad I brought my sound machine).

We loved it and plan to go back for two weeks in February 2015.

I gladly recommend this beautiful spot and would answer any questions prospective renters might have (if that is allowed on here).

My fiancé and two other couples recently returned from a trip to vieques where we were fortunate enough to stay at casa paso fino. The house and its 360 rooftop views were truly a breathtaking amd serene experience. We highly recommend staying there for stunning views and awesome beaches.

Excellent Stay

  • 5 of 5

Amazing house. In safe neighborhood. Walking distance to local store and bakery, as well as the main strip. We were a party of six, and had plenty of space to spare. The house is very clean, and detailed. The view upstairs is absolutely gorgeous, you can watch the sunrise or sunset, and at night you can spend hours gazing at all the stars above! House contains everything you can think of, and then some! It of an unforgettable stay!
