About Beth Strickland

We are in our early sixties and enjoy coming to Highlands. We manage our vacation properties and try to keep them as we would like them to be when we are the guest. We grew up in Gainesville,Ga and Athens,Ga.

Beth Strickland purchased this house in 2004

Why Beth Strickland chose Smoky Mountains

This cottage was built in the early nineties and it is not as old as some we looked at purchasing. We love the close proximity to town, just over a mile to Main St. The Creek just off the sunroom is very soothing to listen to while enjoying a good book or a meal. The cottage sits on just over an acre so you feel private but close lot town.

What makes this house unique

New HVAC system in July 2012. Open Kitchen to Living room and sunroom.WIFI. Very close to town, but private also! Close to Dusty's Grocery Store.

Awesome, the best vacation I have ever Had !!!!

  • 5 of 5

There was everything I needed to make my vacation enjoyable .Such a relaxing place, not far from town, grocery store is so close......

I felt right at home, I will be staying here the next time I go to Highlands , there is no sense in looking for another place to stay .

The owner of the cottage was so wonderful to work with, Couldn't have asked for a nicer person.

Cottage Cute

  • 4 of 5

This cottage is adorable. My husband and I spent four nights here celebrating our 40th anniversary. There is a creek in the back which can be seen and heard from the deck and sunroom. The cottage is very spacious and lovingly filled with books and games. A wood burning fireplace was a treat since it was cool and rainy during our visit. The kitchen is well stocked with anything you might need. Location is ideal for shopping and sightseeing to Highlands and all the waterfalls. Zip lining, a must do, is also an easy drive and should be combined with lunch at Bella's Junction Cafe. This cottage with its door front parking is a great value. The decor and finishes are dated, but I believe new furniture is being delivered soon (hence 4 stars, not 5). The slider door from the sunroom to the deck is not operable (4 stars), but we were able to access the deck from the downstairs bedroom. Sitting on the deck with a cup of coffeee or glass of wine was a highlight. The creek, trees, and birds were gorgeous. Beth gets five plus stars for being very easy to work with when you reserve this adorable cottage.

Wonderful Cottage in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

We decided on a last minute, week-long getaway to Highlands and dealing with Beth was a pleasure and she was able to accommodate us and our dog in her charming home. It is nestled in the woods only a few minutes from town and from many of the activities in Highlands including shopping, dining, hiking and waterfalls. The rooms are large, well appointed and comfortable, and every single thing you could possibly need is there...a beautiful stone fireplace, large deck and sunroom that made you feel as if you were in the trees, and well equipped kitchen and laundry.

The sound of the babbling brook was so relaxing and tranquil, we forgot we were minutes from town. We would definitely stay there again! Thanks again Beth.

Great Weekend Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I travel a lot for work and needed a quiet weekend away from Atlanta. The cottage is the perfect place and fit. The cottage has everything you would need to stay in to enjoy the peace and quiet but also only a mile from town if you want to eat out.

When speaking with Beth (owner) could not have been more pleasant and made the whole process a breeze. We are already looking forwarding to the next time we can get back up to this property.

A perfect retreat!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I , including our miniature goldendoodle, had a wonderful three week stay beginning in mid-May. We bought a home in Highlands and needed a place to stay during renovation. A perfect choice! After a long day of work it was so relaxing to come back to the cottage and sit on the back porch, listening to the sounds of nature and the creek. Beth has done a fabulous job of making her cottage feel like home as soon as you walk into the door. Comfortable furniture, great reading materials (so many books by authors my husband likes) and a very well equipped kitchen. The location was great for walking our dog, and us, with no steep hills. Very private and quiet A terrific getaway just minutes from town for those looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle lifestyle.
