Insiders have been singing the praises of Wien's superbly quiet street in an amazingly hip area, the historic yet vibrant area between Krntnerstrae, Graben, Wollzeile and the old city. Chief amongst these is Innere Stadt, a miracle that this location is not already known as a street on a Monopoly board.

Your host is a successful entrepreneur and a traveler who has poured his unique blend of creativity into his Wien pied--terre, from the vintage and classic style to the sweet style soft furnishings. He loves the fact that the neighbourhood is home to Wien's finest restaurants, shops and museums!

Take the plunge across the heart of Innere Stadt and youll be beguiled, for the eccentric touches and luxury materials. In the open plan kitchen and living room, take off your shoes to relax on the deep, grey and silver large sofa and chairs, and admire the very homey design of the living room corresponding to surprising design gadgets and utterly contemporary dining furniture.

Turn things down a notch in two sophisticatedly muted bathrooms where you have to make the choice between a power shower, surrounded by immaculate, white wall tiles or an inviting bathtub. From here, sail through to the king size bedrooms where flushes of white and orange bring the outside in, and tip-toe across the sleek wooden flooring to recline on the crispy white Dandy beds. Rest your head on the double beds pillows and conjure images of Wien's palaces, breakfast at The Da Capo Pizzeria or a fascinating afternoon on Graben terraces while being entertained by the worlds best street artists.

Take to the pavements like the owl and the pussycat, arm in arm with your amour along Innere Stadt historic streets, simply absorbing the postcard-perfect architecture. Here, Vienna's finest boutiques, eateries, imperial palaces, line the streets, and the commercial bustle of Krntnerstrae - Graben - Wollzeile and the old city is a ten minute stroll away. Famous Hofburg Vienna, The Mozart house, and Stephansdom are too close by to miss them.

The neighborhood

Why we love Vienna!

With its rambling palaces, winding cobbled lanes, elegant Kaffeehuser (coffee houses) and cosy wood-panelled Beisln, Vienna is steeped in history. Yet it's also at the cutting edge of design, architecture, contemporary art, and new directions in drinking and dining. What we love most about the city is that not only does it hold on to its traditions, it incorporates them in everything from high-fashion Dirndls (women's traditional dress) with pop-art motifs or punk conical studs to handmade Sacher Torteflavoured doughnuts and inspired neo-retro cafes. Vienna's past is alive in its present, and, by extension, its future

Masterpiece-filled Museums

One of the Habsburgs' most dazzling Rinsgstrasse palaces, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, houses the imperial art collection. It's packed with priceless works by Old Masters, and treasures including one of the world's richest coin collections. Behind the Hofburg, the former imperial stables have been transformed into the innovative MuseumsQuartier, with a diverse ensemble of museums, showcasing 19th- and 20th-century Austrian art at the Leopold Museum to often-shocking avant-garde works at the contemporary MUMOK. Meteorites, fossils and prehistoric finds fill the Naturhistorisches Museum, while exquisite furnishings at the applied-arts Museum fr Angewandte Kunst are also among the artistic feasts in store.

Imperial Architecture

Vienna's imperial grandeur is the legacy of the powerful Habsburg monarchy. Their home for more than six centuries, the Hofburg palace complex, incorporates the Burgkapelle (Imperial Chapel), where the Vienna Boys' Choir sings Sunday Mass, and the famed Spanish Riding School, where Lipizzaner stallions perform elegant equine ballet, along with a trove of museums, including in the chandeliered Kaiserappartements (Imperial Apartments). Other immense palaces include the baroque Schloss Belvedere and the Habsburgs' 1441-room summer residence, Schloss Schnbrunn, while 19th-century splendours such as the neo-Gothic Rathaus (City Hall) line the magnificent Ringstrasse encircling the Innere Stadt (inner city).

Renowned Drinking & Dining

The Viennese appreciation of the finer things in life extends to its opulent coffee-house 'living rooms' serving spectacular cakes; its beloved pub-like Beisln dishing up hearty portions of Wiener Schnitzel, Tafelspitz (prime boiled beef) and goulash; elegant restaurants; and its fine Austrian wines served in vaulted Vinothek (wine bar) cellars, and in rustic vine-draped Heurigen (wine taverns) in the vineyards fringing the city. Local and international delicacies fill the heady Naschmarkt stalls, and creative chefs are experimenting with local produce and fresh new flavour combinations in innovative, often repurposed venues.

Soul-stirring Music

With a musical heritage that includes composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Josef Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Johann Strauss (father and son), Johannes Brahms and Gustav Mahler, among countless others, Vienna is known as the City of Music. Its cache of incredible venues where you can catch performances today include the acoustically renowned Musikverein, used by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the gold-and-crystal main opera house, the Staatsoper, and the multistage Konzerthaus, as well as the dedicated home of the Vienna Boys' Choir, MuTh. Music comes to life through interactive exhibits at the captivating Haus der Musik museum.

Getting around

The apartment is extraordinarily well-located in the popular area in Innere Stadt. Major bus lines, tubes and taxis 24/7 are leaving next to your doorstep.

1. Train station Wien Mitte / Landstrae There arrives the CAT Train which comes directly into 16 minutes from the airport. Walking distance 8 minutes.

2. Underground Stubentor 3 minutes walk

3. Underground Stephansplatz 7 minutes walk

Vienna International Airport is only 19 minutes via cab/car!

From our apartment to all major Touristic highlights it only takes:

- 4-10 mins walk

Other things to note

Please note that not every neighbor is happy about the New Sharing Economy. If we want them to understand the 21st century :-)) we should respect normal house rules like.... no party after 10pm, be quiet in the staircase/hallway, late check-in fee after 7pm, don't ring at neighbours bell because you cannot find the key in your handbag, don't throw things out of the window, eg. Just use your common sense.

This apartment was beautiful. Lots of room, the location was perfection - it was close to everything, yet quiet and peaceful. My only issue was the washer/dryer would not work. I couldn't get anyone to come and fix it. Besides that minor snafu, I completely enjoyed my stay and would recommend this apartment to any and every one!

The apartment was listed as having air conditioning. It did not. It is not clear whether it never had a/c or it was broken and the owner decided to have two fans rather than a/c but did not inform guests who had already booked. Given it was very hot in Vienna, we choose not to stay. The agent is resisting our request for a refund claiming the listing never said a/c. Fortunately, I have a copy of the listing. Beware....

Great location in the central area of Vienna which was what we were looking for. Because I'm less familiar with parking in Europe I could have really used some help from the owner on where to park. The pamphlet in the apartment answers many questions but not parking for those with a rental car.
