Cozy and convenient
The apartment was small, but tidy, efficient and excellently located. Very quiet, yet in a very popular, bustling neighborhood. Julie was a very helpful and accommodating landlord. Good WiFi. The loft like arrangement made this tiny apartment seem more spacious. We would definitely return.
Rebecca and her husband are a lovely couple, it was a pleasure having them staying in my apartment. They left the apartment in order and clean. I hope to see them again!
Hidden gem in the perfect location in Rome! We will be back someday!
My wife and I stayed for 8 nights in April 2017 and we couldn't have been happier with our accommodation! The place is right around the corner from the Colosseum and Imperial Forum and within walking distance of most of the major sights, many excellent restaurants and transit options. Even though it is in the heart of the action, and only a few hundred metres from tourist trap central, it is tucked away on a small cobblestone side street.
The property owner, Julie, was easy to contact in the weeks leading up to our arrival and helped to arrange for a car to pick us up at the airport. She was waiting with a friend when we arrived at the apartment and showed us everything we needed to know about the rental and gave us some great tips for the neighbourhood (Monti). Julie is awesome and we can't say enough nice things about her!
The area of Monti is amazing and this place is in the heart of it. Monti is the original neighbourhood of Rome (Rione I), and it is a very cool labyrinth of cobblestone streets filled with cafes, restaurants and shops as well as piazzas and churches, of course.
About 100m from the rental is a small, but very lively piazza (Piazza della Madonna dei Monti), with restaurants and cafes and every night of the week dozens of locals can be found socializing on the fountain steps over a bottle of beer or wine (which can be purchased from several shops nearby). From the streetside with your back to the fountain look left and there's the Colosseum about 5 blocks away! The Imperial Forum is a few blocks straight ahead of you and Piazza Venezia is just on the edge of the Forum. The Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli which has Michelangelo's amazing Moses sculpture is about a 5 minute walk.
We walked everywhere (Trevi Fountain/Pantheon are about a 20-25 minute walk), but the Cavour metro stop is a 2 minute walk via another side street. We only used the metro twice (to get to the Vatican and towards Olympic Stadium for a football match).
The rental itself is cozy, but perfectly adequate for a couple. The main floor is the bathroom with shower, a small kitchen and a little sitting area. The bedroom is upstairs and there was a ton of closet and storage space for all of our stuff. There was also a washing machine and drying rack for laundry which was very handy.
Nearby restaurants that we would recommend are Trattoria Al Tettarello, Ai Tre Scalini, and Mizio's Street Food right next to the rental.
Grazie mille, Julie! See you again, someday!
Dear Ben, thank you so much for your words. I am glad you had such a good time and that you liked my place. You were my first guests and I couldn't imagine nicer people as my first guests! I was very lucky! The apartment is getting many reservations through other websites so I am happy about that. Beside to the fact you were very nice and polite guests (such a sense of respect for somebodyelse's house), I hope we will keep in touch and see eachother again! Thank you again for your words and for the little canadian gift and for your card. Thanks to homeaway and vrbo too! 😃 all the best to you and Paula, Julie
