Staying at a Marriott on my next vacation!!
Two words: bed bugs. Fortunately discovered the first night after having been there only a few hours. Subsequently transferred to another unit, which meant packing up and driving to another location entirely after mid nite. There the thermostat didn’t work, so my party and I practically froze to death. A week later, I am now sick and so is my 81yo friend. Plus, parking at both locations offsite and inconvenient. The money saved wasn’t worth it so definitely won’t be repeating the experience.
Thank you Kenneth for your review. We sincerely apologize for the issues that you encountered during your stay with us. Bed bugs are a very serious issue and one that we immediately addressed. Thank you for making us aware of the problem so that we were able to reaccommodate you and place the room out of service to receive treatment. We will make certain that follow-up inspections continue regularly to prevent this from happening again. We thank you for choosing our property and we ask that you allow us another opportunity to host you and earn back your trust.
Most of my problems getting in were because of me. I reviewed the information 2 or 3 days ahead of time, thinking I would arrive in daylight. We were late in arriving so after I could not find the apartment, I called the phone number provided and Bridget talked me through finding my way in. Bridget also stayed with me on the phone until I was in and everything checked out clean and ready. It would be nice to have room darkening drapes on the front bedroom window but they did have a box fan and pack n play, ironing board, washer and dryer- things we didn't need but if I were staying longer, with a family, it might be useful. I liked the location, easy walk to The Peabody, Beale Street and downtown area. Bar stools are too low for the bar, but we didn't have need for them anyway. The second bedroom has a curtain, no door, but not a problem for us. Kitchen had everything we needed.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your accommodations. We appreciate your valuable feedback as it helps us to identify the areas where we can improve the guest experience. Thank you for choosing our property and we look forward to welcoming you back.
Falsely advertised, MISERABLE management, but clean and nicely decorated.
First and foremost, please be aware that the pictures advertised are NOT actually depicting the exact unit you will get. We thought there was a mistake upon check in, but management informed us that the pictures on the website are just a collage of pictures from all of their units and not necessarily of the unit you will be renting. What??!! I have never, EVER had this happen and we use VRBO and air B&B a lot. The unit I thought I was renting showed a balcony and a much larger lay out with a lot of windows. The unit we got did not have a balcony and was not at all like the pictures, it was much smaller. Upon booking, I indicated that I needed parking and when we checked in there was no parking pass available for the parking garage (kinda a big deal in Memphis...). I called the Stay Alfred people and they were so rude, she said "You declined parking, that will be an extra $20 per night and I can't even guarantee that we can get anyone out to your unit with a parking pass, it is the weekend." I did not decline parking and quickly sent the confirmation of my booking, indicating that I had in fact, requested AND paid for parking at the time of booking. This took hours after check in to resolve and the Stay Alfred people were texting us at dinner demanding us to send a picture of our vehicle and license plates immediately so we wouldn't get towed. We were RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF DINNER.
We rented a 2 bedroom 2 bath unit as we were traveling with our children (11 and 2) The second bedroom did not have a door, but a curtain instead. What??!! Not what I was hoping for since the 2 year old needs quiet and separation for bedtime. A bedroom door is expected and necessary, in my opinion. Another complaint that isn't a huge deal, but should be noted, is that the bar in the kitchen wasn't really an "eat-at" bar. It had bar stools that were about 18" too short so sitting at it was not an option. Aside from feeling extremely misled about the property we booked and the frustration with dealing with the rude Stay Alfred people, the unit was clean and nicely decorated. It is in the out field of the Memphis Redbirds baseball stadium, so it was an added perk to be able to sit on their community patio and watch the game. It is within walking distance of Beale Street and a lot of area attractions, which was really appealing to us. I would definitely stay in this location and even this unit again if I thought I wouldn't have to deal with Stay Alfred.
