Gorgeous oceanfront beach house with a large private yard directly across from the Polynesian Cultural Center. It's rare to find a home on the North Shore that offers a safe, private swimming beach right in front of the house. This property has it all. A single family 1500 square ft. beach house maintained to the owners' standards. Central air conditioning, stainless steel appliances, new refrigerator, granite countertops, travertine floors, plantation shutters, new Smart TV in living room and plasma TV with cable in 2nd bedroom, Wi-fi high-speed internet, outdoor grill, microwave, and a full-size washer and dryer.
The home has a huge private, fenced yard for the kids to run and play. We are tucked away from the highway which makes for a quiet setting away from traffic noise. The back of the house faces east and rewards the early riser with spectacular sunrises. From our lanai you may spot sea turtles or monk seals anytime and whales in the winter. New steps installed in October 2015 allow for easy ocean access. This private, reef-protected beach makes it safe to swim right in front of the home, regardless of the season. The "bathtub" area is perfect for kids of all ages.
The roomy home has and two bedrooms, two full baths, a large living room with well-appointed furnishings, and a dining table which seats six. There are two queen beds, one futon and one day bed. Beach towels, boogie boards, and some beach toys are included. There are many public beaches located nearby if you want the bigger waves.
Laie is a quiet country town but convenient to Foodland (closed on Sunday), Tamura's (local market open 7-days a week that sells alcohol), and Long's Drug Store. In Laie there is a clean and friendly shopping center with fast food choices such as McDonald's, Taco Bell, Subway and even a small movie theater! The nearby town of Kahuku is famous for its many fun food trucks.
Simply walk across the street to the Polynesian Cultural Center. PCC is one of Oahu's favorite tourist stops, made famous by its fabulous luau and evening show. The free Hukilau Marketplace, with Pounder's Restaurant, several food trucks, live Hawaiian music, and convenient shopping, is great fun too. We are located just 10 minutes from Turtle Bay Resort and a 20-minute drive to Kualoa Ranch.
No need to fight the crowds in Waikiki or other parts of the island, Bathtub Beach offers the ultimate in tranquility on the North Shore.
Sorry, no weddings, private parties, or outdoor camping are allowed on the property.
This property was listed on VRBO in Dec. 2012.
My husband I have lived in Alaska for the past 36 years. Business, and the desire for warm weather, brought us to Oahu 20 years ago. Since we first arrived we have met so many wonderful people who welcomed us with the true spirit of Aloha. After years of living part-time in Hononlulu we purchased this home in 2006 because of its gorgeous setting on the tranquil waters of Bathtub Beach. We still visit our island home throughout the year and always leave with a renewed sense of peace.
Lata Sua purchased this house in 2006
As owners and frequent visitors to this beach house, we maintain it as if it were our own home. Once you enter the gate you are in your own private paradise. You will find this well-maintained island home a perfect spot for your Hawaii vacation.
We fell in love with the beauty and tranquility of Bathtub Beach. The reef-protected beach makes for a quality Hawaiian vacation experience. Swimming is safe right in front of our home regardless of the season. The home required extensive remodeling which was completed in 2009. We love staying in quiet Laie during our frequent visits to Oahu. We are continually awed by the view as we walk in the private gate and are transported away from all worries. This is how we believe your vacation should be too. Laie is a quiet and safe place in which to visit. The local Foodland (closed on Sunday) is clean and friendly. Tamura's Market and Long's Drugstore in Hau'ula are so close too. Tamura's has a great selection of wine and spirits.
The location is a 10/10! This house is directly on the beach - it has it's own private stairs that lead down to a lovely small public beach. It is called "bathtub beach" because of the rock formation which creates a lovely still, shallow, protected area for swimming. Great for babies, kids or adults who want to do laps or paddle board.
The house is a lovely, simple, pleasant house that is very well maintained, well designed, and well aspected. There is a lovely light open feeling to the house and you can see sky and ocean and greenery from windows and doors. It also feels private, you dont hear or see your neighbors. It has easy parking too - off street, safe, multiple spots.
The house has new kitchen appliances, new washer dryer, clean new tiled bathrooms, new windows & doors that are all screened. The furniture is comfortable and clean. All small details have been thought of for you - soaps, trash bags, dishwasher soap, laundry soap, basic pantry items like sauces and salt, pepper etc. My husband and I prefer a firm mattress so we simply switched the mattress from the back room with the master mattress. The older firm mattress was better for us. Neither mattress is new or amazing, but the firm one was better than the super soft pillow top one on the master bed.
The pack n play crib for our baby was clean and in good working order, with 2 spare 100% cotton crib sheets. There was also a high chair for her to sit in, it was also good quality and clean.
This house is in a very local vibe neighborhood - mostly college students, locals. If you want a lovely, quiet, calm beach, a clean comfortable pleasant house in a spectacular location then this is the holiday rental for you. Shop at the local grocery store, cook meals at home, the kitchen is fully equipped with knives, pots pans etc. It is possible to eat casual healthy meals at North Shore Tacos & Seven Brothers Burgers (high quality fresh ingredients at both) or have dinner at Roy's Beach House inside Turtle Bay.
There is another rental house in Laie that is literally next door to this house, also beachfront and it is AWFUL - it's photos misleading as it is filthy, has vermin & is falling apart. We stayed at the awful house in Feb & were so scarred by the experience I was dreading returning to Laie, but we had already booked this 2nd trip for March & it was all non-refundable. I am glad we returned to Laie, this house is a very nice house in the perfect beachfront location & very well managed.
We stayed here for 7 days in april. The pictures were exactly as the home described. The house was perfect for our family of 4 (boys age 9,5) with grandma and grandpa along for the vacation. We loved being across from the PCC and being steps always from the beach. You could hear the waves at night! Thank you Lata for sharing this great home!! We hope to come back again and would definitely recommend.
We loved our stay and had a wonderful time. It is the perfect location - quiet, calm and beautiful. The sunrises and rainbows were amazing and the house is beautiful.
Loved the location for young children, very protected beach. Great place if you want to be away from the big city.
We loved this house & property! A bonus is the neighbors-they are wonderful! The property has everything you would need. It is clean, well kept, and accommodating for 6. The yard is a bonus for outdoor games as well as the steps to the beach. Close to grocery stores, movie theatre, and restaurants! Hope to return!
We loved being on a wonderful swimming beach with beautiful ocean views. The house had everything a family with two little boys could need, including a big yard to run around.
The Polynesian Cultural Center and the new Hukilau Marketplace are located directly across the street from us. At PCC you can enjoy an authentic day-long Polynesian adventure capped off with their famous luau and evening show. The Hukilau Marketplace is a free and fun place to shop, eat, and listen to live local Hawaiian music. Pounder's Restaurant is a beautiful new restaurant and there are several local food trucks for a quick bite to eat -- all just a walk across the street. You can rent stand-up paddle boards and kayaks at North Shore Explorers and carry them back to Bathtub Beach -- it's that convenient!
Kualoa Ranch, a 20-minute drive from here, is a fantastic place to tour the movie locations from Lost and Jurassic Park, as well as enjoy a horseback or catamaran ride. Turtle Bay Resort is a 10-minute drive. The resort boasts world class golf and a relaxing spa. The North Shore has many shrimp trucks which are fun to try. Be sure to visit Kahuku Farms for simple farm to table freshness and a tour of their farmland. Of course winter brings the giant waves to areas outside Bathtub Beach. You can drive to watch the professional surfers near Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach and Bonzai Pipeline. No trip to the North Shore is complete without a stop in historic Hale'iwa. You can always take the one-hour drive to Waikiki, but honestly, why would leave this place when you have your own paradise right here at Bathtub Beach?
