About Deb Calnan

I am a third grade teacher who lives with my family about an hour south of Denmark. I spent all of my childhood summer weekends and most of my summers as an adult with my children at my favorite place on Earth. This is the first year that I have been managing the rentals for my dad, who owns the property. We had a rental company do it before, so I am excited about adding this personal touch for our renters, who will be enjoying such a special place.

Deb Calnan purchased this cabin in 1962

Why Deb Calnan chose Denmark

My mom and Dad bought the land from my Grandfather who developed Swan Road and Cygnet Drive. Swan Road is named after my grandfather, Arthur Swan, who built the road and sold the lots. Cygnet Drive is named for my Mom, who was a cygnet, a baby Swan. My Mom and Dad, who was a carpenter, built the camp back in the 60s. The above picture is of my dad, the owner, my 3 siblings, and myself. Our family enjoyed many wonderful summer weekends together at camp as children, as well as many years after with our own children. Since my Mom's passing 9 years ago, we started renting the place in the summers.

What makes this cabin unique

I have loved this place since my very first memories. My heart always skips a little when I turn the corner in the road and see the mountain in the distance for the very first time each spring. Aside from all the memories, I enjoy looking out the windows and seeing the mountain, the lake, and the wildlife. The first call of the loon lets me know summer is finally here. Another reason is being able to jump in our boat and go for a ride whenever we want. I hope you enjoy this special place as much as our family has and still does.

Great location!

  • 5 of 5

This is the 4th year we have come to this lakeside gem. Owners keep the home clean and updated. The yard is great for the kids to play games and with the fire pit, cooking marshmallows was fun to do at night.

The dock provides us with an easy launching area. Fishing was great and the rope swing at the lower town swimming area a blast.

We're coming back in 2018!!

Old Town, Maine, USA

Wonderful vacation venue.

  • 5 of 5

Deb and her husband have a great place to rent. It was a perfect spot for our family vacation: great views of Pleasant Mtn, shallow water over a sand beach was perfect for our granddaughter, warm water, not much power boat traffic on the lower part of Moose Pond. Sport Haus in Bridgton delivered a Sunfish to our beach and the sailing was great. You can paddle up into the upper pond for a change of scenery. The dock is handy and we loved the sunsets. The unit includes a canoe, paddleboat, and lots of extra life jackets. The westerly view afforded beautiful sunsets over Pleasant Mtn. The yard is spacious and includes a large picnic table and fire pit where we enjoyed s'mores. We were welcome to kindle camp fires with wood provided by the owner. The camp is very well-equipped in terms of furnishings and kitchen ware, with two complete kitchens. The location is close to great mountain biking, climbing, and road biking. We hiked to the top of Pleasant Mtn and found lots of tasty blueberries ripe for the picking. A highlight of the week was helping our granddaughter catch her first fish, a 3-pound largemouth bass! There were three eagles in residence across the pond and within sight of our beach. Bridgton is 15 min. away for groceries. We could have chosen among a number of decent restaurants there but did not want to leave the pond. All in all we had a terrific week there! ---- Bret & Renee

I have been renting this home for several years and I was concerned when the rental agency closed their business this past year. I was so relieved when the owners contacted me.

It's 2 homes in one. The upstairs is so comfortable with many windows to view the lake and pleasant mt.

Downstairs has a larger kitchen which makes it convenient for access outside for keeping all your bbq needs.

Great yard with a fire pit close to the pond. The pond is very shallow which makes it safe for the kids. And the kids love jumping off the dock.

It also has the afternoon sun which I prefer instead of the morning sun.

I have many of great pics to share if I could figure out how. Last year we enjoyed watching the eagles & their juveniles in their nest across the pond. Looking forward to our summer vacation in 2017.

Thank you for sharing it with us.
