Cabin, 2-Story (Sleeps 6)
About Brett Boetto
The cabin is owned by two families/business partners who have been friends for over 20 years. This cabin has been a great retreat for both families. Partner Randy grew up in Merced CA, and Partner Brett has lived in the CA Valley over 26 years, but originally grew up in Illinois.
Brett Boetto purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Brett Boetto chose Camp Connell
The property is centrally located near both Mountain and Foot Hill activities such as snow skiing and wine tasting. It is easily accessed from Hwy 4 amongst beautiful pines and is an extremely peaceful location. It's a true cabin not just a house in the forest. Very quiet location with peaceful nature sounds galore.

Very cute and cozy cabin. We enjoyed our time there and out kids had a blast sledding down the street. Quiet neighborhood as well!
Everything was great and amazing. Had a blast with family
Nice, cozy, reasonably priced, close to skiing
This is a good place for a small group or a family; within half-an-hour driving distance from skiing, it's almost a bargain. We were lucky to catch this property the very last minutes (less than 2 weeks before Christmas), for 2 nights. We liked very detailed instructions how to drive there and how to operate everything. Also, we liked the fact that cleaning fee (rather than cleaning deposit) was included into the price, so no expectation to clean everything too thoroughly ... that saved us a great deal of time on the morning of our departure.
The place is nestled into the woods, but easy to find - they made sure you wouldn't miss it! The only tricky thing there was the stove - only on the second day of our stay we found out how to regulate the temperature on it! ;-) Also, the place is not particularly suitable for people with walking/climbing difficulties - all the stairs (inside and outside the house) are high and narrow, and create some knee strain for those who have joint problems. Also, we are used to bringing our own bedding to some rentals, but have never before needed to bring our own pillows - that was our first. ;-)
Don't overpack.... it has everything!
Great peaceful getaway. Far enough from neighbors to feel privacy when out on the deck and all the trees just add to the secluded feeling. The place had all you could need.... games, movies, wi-fi so we could play our music. Kitchen fully stocked with appliances, cleaning supplies, pots/pans, wine glasses, spices, and more. I was looking at many places to stay and some cabins with very old living room furniture was a big turn off for me. This cabins living room was updated but with a cabin theme. Stuffed bear and decorative country style really made it appealing. My biggest mistake was overpacking because i didn't know what to expect and we spent more time unloading and packing up than at the place! The Gas station nearby has a market, small bar inside and also does live music on some weekends. It was nice to have that convenience so close when we needed more ice and wanted ice cream. We did have to bring our own linens which added to the packing and I'm on the fence on this one. It was nice to have our own belongings to sleep on but just a pain to hike pillows, blankets, sheets, and towels up the stairs. The cleaning fee was steep for me as it was just me and my husband and we left it so clean I'm sure the cleaning people did not have much to do. I can understand the need for the cost though as the owners would never be able to determine upfront potential cleaning costs and a $120 charge is a reasonable cost when hiring an external vendor. My only other feedback was the deck condition. It was pretty dirty with dust, leaves, spiderwebs, and some old insect containers. I realize being in a forest, upkeep would be really hard but it would have been nice if this area was cleaned prior to our arrival as we had to do it to be able to enjoy the deck which was where we spent a majority of our time. Doesn't mean we won't stay again. Would love to come back in the winter months to experience the snow and will bring our kids as it is so roomy. The owners were also very communicative checking in on us. Not too much to bother us but enough to make sure we were settled and answered any questions we had very quickly. All in all it was a great time and will be back for sure. Thanks for a great stay!
A little piece of heaven on earth
