About the Property

Two-Story House (119 m2)

'Perlegiannika Houses' is located between two gorges, with excellent panoramic view to both of them. The position of the House lets you admire the glorious reddish summer sunset. The village guards over beautiful cypress hills, as well as acres with olive trees and plantations with local vegetables.
Within the 'Perlegiannika Houses’ Garden you will find two stone wells, a small farm plot, aromatic plants & herbs, a stone Kytherian rustic wood fired oven, a threshing floor and a barbeque. The Garden, the Barbeque and the Pergola (with an outdoor dining table of 12) are common areas for both Houses.

In the complex, there are also separate building units, the Garden Kitchen and the Garden Room, that are for exclusive use by the Zisimopoulos Family.

The Zisimopoulos Family completed the reconstruction of the Kamara House and the Garden Kitchen in 2004 and the Garden Room in 2005.

The Two-Story House was built in 2007. It is the two-story house that is for rent on this listing. Throughout the construction process, there was constant supervision by Zisimopoulos Family and two partnering architects (one local & one from Athens). The Houses ware built by local craftsmen who applied Kytherian methodology and techniques for the floors and the bathrooms, while the majority of materials used were from local producers. Zisimopoulos Family tried to reuse the stone from the original buildings that stood where the two Houses are right now, following the 3R principles of sustainability (Reuse, Recycle & Reduce).

In the Kitchen there are available homemade marmalades, Greek spoon sweets, wines. All the products are crafted by the Zisimopoulos Family. A bottle of the Zisimopoulos Family own production’s virgin olive oil is offered to our guests. All of our guests can use our vegetable garden to their benefit for fruits and vegetables.

The Two-Story House is 119 m2, that can host from 4 to 6 guests. It consists of a living room, a dining room (the dining table is custom made monasterial type), two bathrooms, 1 WC, kitchen and 2 bedrooms (the Colour Bedroom and the Master Bedroom).
On the ground floor there are the living room, the kitchen, the dining room and the WC. On the first floor there are the two bedrooms. The Master Bedroom consists of an elevated handmade King-size bed, a Jacuzzi, a WC, two large windows that provide an ample view to the southern gorge, a balcony with 180o panoramic view and a wooden pergola.

The Colour Bedroom has a comfortable double bed, large closets, a vast window, a balcony with an excellent view to the West, to the neighboring villages and to the sunset.

The living room has the potential to host two more guests, while there is a separate garden door to a terrace

About the owner: My name is Sofia I was born in Patras, I grow up in Germany, I studied Finance and economics in U.S.A, Minnesota University and St. Thomas University in Minneapolis. I have been working at central bank of Greece and in different positions in the banking sector until 2007. My husband George is retired naval officer at the Greek Navy in Submarines specialist, with studies in States and different European countries. Now in love with Olive trees, grapes and the sunlight of this Blessed Island. I have been also retired and we spend only 4 months living in Patras. The rest of 8 months in Kythera we are producing extra vergin olive oil, 3 varieties of wine and all the local vegetables and fruits. Our ambition is to offer all these products and happiness that this area of the world can offer to our guests.

Why the Owner Chose Kithira, Greece:
Almost a decade ago, we, the Zisimopoulos Family, arrived in the tiny Kytherian village of Perlegiannika for summer vacation and it only took a few moments for us, city folks, to fall in love with the island and the village. But how could we not? The unbelievable mixture of nature, of rich island aromas, of blue skies and of bright starry nights create a scenery to which no one can say no! Here, we decided to create Perlegiannika Houses. Perlegiannika Houses consists of a renovated traditional Kytherian stone arched house (kamara) and a two-story picturesque island home. The Kamara House was first constructed in the 18th century as an accommodation where wine was produced, matured and stored. The Two-Story House is a new building, that happens to have its own history, as it was constructed on the same place where an old stable used to stand. It is the two story house that is for rent.
