Cosy and comfortable
We loved our stay. The location is great and right by the BRP. The beds are comfortable and the view from the dining room is stunning.
We enjoyed our stay. Cabin was nice and in a perfect location between blowing rock and Boone. One negative thing is that the flat outdoor fire pit area is currently full of construction debris and unusable. Also the house was clean but we noticed a decent amount of cob webs on the walls.
The cottage was the perfect size for our family of 5. It was clean and they provide enough kitchen equipment to easily make meals. The fire pit and stairs that lead to it are no longer in use. My kids were looking forward to sitting around a fire, so that was a disappointment. The back door did not lock and the DVD player didn’t work. Other than that we had a nice stay. Great views and super close to the Appalachian ski resort. I would suggest updating the pictures of the property to show the new deck and that the fire pit isn’t there anymore.
We stayed at this property with our 2 kids. The house itself was very clean and so nicely decorated. It is definitely a home that is well taken care of and loved. While others complained in reviews of the size, I had no problem with it. It was such a cute and quaint little A-Framed house. The kitchen table area was different than in the photos - it looks like there was a small addition/modification and is so wonderful... we played many games there and love the bench seating! The family room was missing one smaller couch shown in the photos (was only a loveseat and one recliner), but we made it work. The location was great and we so close to many things. The little things put into this house were very cute... like the mason jar dish soap dispenser, the special hand soap in the bathrooms... and the fact that it had all the linens, paper towels, hand towels, bath towels, toilet paper, etc. was a huge plus for us.
My only main complaint is that the photos are all old and a bit misleading on the exterior of the house. The deck had recently been replaced and there are no longer stairs to the firepit... this caused disappointment for our kids who were really looking forward to the firepit! The deck is very nice now and you can enjoy the gorgeous views, but it is much smaller than in the photos and there are no stairs leading to the firepit anymore. The deck furniture has been upgraded though! :-)
All in all, we had a very nice time and would recommend this property - I just wanted others to know there have been some changes. I like to know what I'm getting when I book something, so that was my only issue with this property.
Your expectation will determine satisfaction
On arrival we were very disappointed. However, once we got beyond that we enjoyed our stay.
The bad: the pictures lead you to believe tie cabin is larger than it is. It is tiny. The listing says 800 square feet. I measured it as 520 square feet plus the loft. The pictures make drive look almost flat. It is very steep. Checking instructions say to back in. We have a front wheel drive suv. We backed in and still had traction issues in dry weather. Twice car slid backwards after we stopped and applied brake. The steps to fire pit are not sturdy and there is now a house being built in front of fire pit.
The good: although th cabin is small it worked fine for us. The owner has done a good job using the space. Inside is tidy and in good repair. The view from the deck is great. We spent most of our time sitting on deck.
Summary: I think that if you expect a very small cabin and don’t care about fire pit you would enjoy your stay here.
Floyd, thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience. We have shared your feedback with the homeowner who has the following to say:
"Since your departure, we have made an addition to the kitchen whereas we bumped out a separate breakfast area with large window to see the view of Grandfather Mountain. This added additional square footage to the house. We have replaced the kitchen table with a new rectangular one with benches. We have removed the existing deck and constructed a new one. There is a new coffee table in the den. There is now landscaping in front and sides of the driveway and we have added gravel to driveway. These improvements have added additional charm to the home."
Thanks again! Best, the Evolve Team
