Not what I was expecting
The hospitality was great & the views were amazing. However, from google maps, I didn't know it was going to be as far away from the "city" area as it was. I chose this place as a temporary stay while trying to find a permanent apartment. To get anywhere yourself (I don't like relying on others) you had to walk down a gigantic hills (which means walking back up them!). Unless you can get a taxi, no one goes up that way except residents. Claude the caretaker of the place was absolutely awesome. He picked me up, made sure I had everything I needed (even took me to the grocery store before taking me to the house so I could have food). He showed me around the really BIG house (Manson), & even spent one afternoon showing me the island taking me up the windward side of the island, telling me about the areas & the history. After I found a place he took me & all my luggage there as well. He even checked up on me after a week or so to make sure I was getting along ok! He's GREAT!
Over the course of my stay at the house though, there were a few things that I did not like. Throughout the large house, there were not many lights at all. There were tons of switches for lighting but no lights. I definitely like to see where I'm going when I am in a strange place, but it was dark and dim. The huge kitchen looks great, however the amenities were not great. The sink (where you probably would get most of your water supply) had very little water pressure, and the water smelled & tasted BAD. I thought it was just me getting used to new water in a foreign country, but it was just that sink. After a couple days, I realized this & I started getting all of my water from the upstairs bathroom sink because I realized the problem was the kitchen... talk about hassle bringing down a pot of water to make pasta from upstairs. When I tried to make food, the kitchen items were quite dirty. I understand that many come & go, but finding and having to clean obviously dirty items before using was not pleasing. The fridge was also filthy. There were items in there for lord knows how long, a few dead bugs, & it had a distinct smell. I made sure to cover everything or have everything I had in there sealed to no get ruined or soiled with the smell.
I didn't need 1 of 5 nights & Mark the owner was really great about refunding me the night. Overall it was good for the price & time that I needed to find a place, but if you are looking to get to the beach easily on your own forget IT!
