About the property

Reed Lake, Very Private, Perfect Family Get Away

Come and enjoy this classic lake cottage! Built on a very private setting this 2 bedroom home is the perfect quiet lake getaway. The cabin sleeps (4) in beds but plenty of floor space for cots, air mattresses which you will need bring along with you along with the linens.

Wifi Available.

Te home setting is on a large double lot with tall mature oaks and pines. A gentle slope to the lake and a beautiful southern exposure add to the charm.

Cabin comes with a canoe and (2) kayaks to enjoy quiet lake adventures. Reed Lake is a private lake with no public landing...there is very little boat traffic. However, there is a place to dock your boat across from the cabin if you wanted to bring your own boat or pontoon. Fishing for bass, panfish and northern pike are all possibilities. We include a nice lake side fire pit with ample firewood for your stay. Two lake side adirondak chairs make a nice destination for your morning coffee or evening glass of wine.

Cabin interior is classic rustic cottage. Two fireplaces add to the ambiance...one gas and one wood. Kitchen was redone in 2012 with all new appliances including a dishwasher. Wood floors, cedar walls and lots of glass make this home very cozy. A large deck and very private yard is great for kids and pets.

Not all lake homes are created equal. If you are looking for privacy in your northwoods escape it is not easy to come by. Most lake homes in the Hayward area on lots that afford little privacy...not this one!!

About Rhonda Passolt

We live in Hayward and bought this fabulous cabin because it was so private. We wanted to have a place to go and relax...a place for high quality family time. This cabin on Reed Lake continues to be one of our favorite places to get away to.

Rhonda Passolt purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Rhonda Passolt chose Northwest

Privacy was the number one reason we purchased this property. The sunny southern exposure, tall mature trees and lack or boat and jet ski traffic sealed the deal for us.

What makes this cabin unique

Private, great swimming lake, southern exposure, quiet, peaceful surroundings.

Nice week on the lake

  • 4 of 5

Nice stay on the lake. Cabin is clean and well maintained. We used the kayaks and canoe multiple days. Even did some swimming on one day, but the August weather was a little brisk to be in the water too much. Caught fish from both the dock and canoe (blue gill, small mouth bass, and northern pike). Nothing too big, but still fun. The cabin is about a 15 minute drive or so out of Hayward, but there are several restaurants closer to the cabin.

Beautiful cabin and views

  • 4 of 5

We had a great experience. The cabin was very well kept and beautiful, the views were gorgeous and the place was very peaceful and private. Rhonda was very supportive when we needed her during all the stay. The lake was awesome, very clear water, but it didn't match our expectations though because it was too small, shallow and full of water plants for a motor boat and didn't have landings so we had to take our deck boat to bigger lakes and not have it docked there as we were planning to do. Also the cabin has two double beds only and Rhonda lent us a cot, but it was not ideal for a couple with three teenage sons (initial description of the cabin said accommodation for six people and then it was changed to four people later) but overall the stay was very pleasant, the staff very supportive and the cabin was gorgeous. Wi-fi worked perfectly as well.

Hayward Area Retreat

  • 5 of 5

The photos of the property do not do it justice. We stayed for four nights in early July and never got tired of the wonderful view from the living room and balcony. We brought our own kayaks and kayaked on the property lake as well as other gorgeous lakes that were all within a short drive. We also spent time biking on several of the CABRA trails. It was wonderful to return to this property following each of our excursions.
