I am a lady engineer whose children are grown up. I travel between my home in London and Paris where I now work. I divide my time between my professional life and offering my two apartments for visitors to Paris.
Lindsay Maxwell purchased this apartment in 2007
This apartment was my first step to realisation of a dream of coming to live as a Parisian, in the city I have always loved. It will always be very special to me and has been my home here for more than five years.
The apartment is located in what is really a village within the city. The 'quartier' has a life of its own, into which it has welcomed me and my guests. The apartment building itself is traditional and looks out at the back over a small but beautiful courtyard.
In the last 9 years we have stayed in different apartments in various arrondissements, each time we've come for our visits with our daughter, staying a month or longer. What a pleasure to discover the rue Daguerre neighbourhood and your apartment. Your flat is a VERY well designed use of space - the open feeling of the "great room" is so unusual to find in Paris - breathing space !! And otherwise everything was provided - even 2 WC's !
We stayed in this lovely apartment for four days at the beginning of April, 2015. We have been going to Paris for over thirty years and recently started renting apartments, rather than staying in hotels. We had stayed in the same place for five times previously, but for this visit that apartment was not available, so, based on the description and pictures on the website, we decided to try Lindsay's apartment on the Rue LaLande. We were not disappointed! The place was just perfect for us, having a cozy and warm feel, with lots of natural light. The high ceilings and tall windows make the apartment feel spacious, as does the open concept, with living, dining, and kitchen areas flowing together. The kitchen is well equipped and makes "eating at home" easy and fun. Nearby markets, stores, boulangeries, etc. provide everything you need for wonderful meals. The Rue Daguerre, just down the street, is one of our favorite market streets in all of Paris, and on Tuesday and Friday there is a large market set up in a square about three blocks from the apartment. The neighborhood is full of cafes and restaurants and the apartment is just minutes away from the famous cafes of Montparnasse. The Luxembourg Gardens are also nearby. Public transportation around Paris and to both airports is just around the corner. The rental process was easy and Lindsay does a wonderful job with arrival instruction and welcome information. Needless to say, we have found our new place in Paris. In fact we liked the place so much that we are returning at the end of next month.
We stayed in Paris for a month. This apartment could not have been more perfect for us. It is quite spacious for a Paris apartment--the layout, high ceilings, and big windows create a light, comfortable environment. The location is typically quiet and it could not have been more convenient. It is 2-3 minutes from the pedestrianized block of Rue Daugerre with all of its fruit, meat, fish, chocolate, and specialty shops--oh, and the amazing bakeries as well as a Monoprix grocery store. Also 2-3 minutes from the Metro with good access to sites, other lines, and the RER (which will get you to and from Gare Nord and Charles DeGaulle without changing lines). The apartment was clean, well stocked, and had a washing machine and a couple of laundromats nearby for large loads or for drying heavy items. Lindsay was good to work with and responsive to our questions. We hope to return to Paris and to this apartment.
During a 16-day European vacation that included 5 different locales, this Paris apartment was clearly the best accommodation for us and our two daughters (15, 13). The wonderful location off Rue Daguerre and short walk to the Metro meant we got to see everything easily; the airy, spacious rooms with huge windows gave us comfortable Paris living and quiet night's sleep each night. And the new clothes-washer gave us the ability to pack light and refresh our wardrobe midway through our trip. The WiFi connection was easy and super-fast. We will definitely be back!
We loved our month-long stay in this apartment. It was as described; no, better. We've stayed in apartments in various arrondissements but particularly enjoyed this one. Its layout makes it very spacious and it's very well equipped. Good light, two wc's and a quiet street are all bonuses. The owner provided very useful information about the apartment and neighborhood. We loved the area too. It has a very village-like feel and amazing markets, shops and restaurants. Being within a few minutes of the RER ( to/from CDG) and Metro is a big bonus. We would highly recommend the apartment.
Located in central Paris, you will experience real Parisian living in the Quartier Daguerre. Buy your croissants fresh each morning from any one of a choice of five local boulangeries, or take your morning coffee in the cafe and just people watch. On Sundays, the roads in the Quartier are closed to through traffic and families take to the street, to 'flaner' - stroll about.
There are several weekly markets in the immediate area, for both food and arts and crafts.
See a film at one of several local cinemas - look out for English speaking films being shown in 'version originale V.O ' which retain the dialogue in English.
For those seeking a more vibrant nightlife, try the adjacent quartier Gaite with its numerous theatres and venues, all of which can be reached easily on foot.
