My family and I loved our stay. The home was very comfortable and very well furnished with plenty of dishes, towels, and bedding for the entire family. The outdoor area and fire pit was very enjoyable though instructions on use for the fire pit (is there and where to find lighter fluid would have been appreciated). The property was walking distance of the beach and the provided beach parking pass was very useful and helpful as well. The home was spacious and a joy to stay in. My 5 year old nephew and 3 year old niece especially enjoyed their sleeping spots in the loft (though the adults that ended up sleeping up there found it comfortable for them as well) as well as the spacious backyard and small dora table. Everything worked well. Management was easily accessible for questions. No complaints. Awesome location and awesome stay. Thank you very much!

Merchant House I

  • 5 of 5

I would definitely book this property again. The management company was so easy to work with and physically 2 minutes from the property. The property was in excellent/clean condition and is much larger/roomier than the pictures give credit for. You really do not need to bring any household items as the house if fully supplied.

The deck and fire pit and deck are fully equipped to handle the 11 adults we had staying with us. The location is so close to the main downtown area you really do not need to drive anywhere. My only suggestion was to furnish more towels. With that said we all earmarked our towels and just washed them. We had an great holiday weekend and cannot rave enough about the accommodations.

Good location, nice layout

  • 5 of 5

I would definitely recommend staying at the Merchant House. The house has a nice layout for a large group with kids. The loft upstairs was perfect for five kids. Our big kid was happy to have the pull-out couch in the basement. The house isn't huge, but it's roomy enough where everyone feels comfortable. My bed was comfortable, and I didn't hear complaints from anyone else. The fire pit and bbq were excellent. Although we didn't watch a lot of TV, it was nice that there were so many throughout the house, so you could watch it wherever you wanted to.

The location is great. The kids rode their bikes to the beach, and the adults (and all the beach gear) drove and used the provided parking pass to the beach. The grocery store and restaurants are just a short walk away.

The rental company is super helpful. I probably drove them nuts with all my emails and phone calls, but they were always very pleasant and quick to respond.

If we go there again, I would make sure to pack these things: a sharp knife, a bake pan or large casserole dish, cooking oil, condiments, a plastic spatula for flipping pancakes, a blanket for the pull-out couch.

Here is my small list of things that could be improved:

When we got there, the floors were dirty. Within five minutes of arriving, my baby's legs are hands were black from crawling on the floor, and all of our feet were too. I think there was soot on the dining room floor from the fireplace. With such a high cleaning fee, I would have expected it to have very clean floors.

The closet in our bedroom was very shallow, you really couldn't hang stuff in it. I didn't check out the closets in the other rooms.

Instead of a kitchen in the basement, it seems like the space could be better served with having more seating, so the whole group could sit together and watch a movie. We never needed the second kitchen.

Don't let my list of dislikes deter you! You should rent this place, especially if you're looking for a house that allows you to rent by the day rather than a whole week.

All Around perfect

  • 5 of 5

Booked this cottage for a girls weekend getaway, most coming from Chicago and a couple from Michigan. House is huge and very spacious. Plenty of sleeping room, no one was on top of anyone else, supplied with anything and everything we could have needed. Was within walking distance of anything and everything. Didn't have to move the cars once they were parked. Happened to be a beautiful weekend while we were there and couldn't have asked for better accommodations. The welcome basket was certainly a wonderful surprise. Will recommend to family and friends and be coming back myself.

Girls Weekend 2013

  • 5 of 5

The home was wonderful, HUGE on the inside, very spacious and well kept, beds for everyone. We were walking distance to the shops, bars and restaurants. Some of us even took the train to chicago for one day! The beach was amazing. Everything about our stay was fantastic. The complimentary gift basket on the counter when we arrived was a real treat! This rental comes highly recommended by our group of gals!

As far as I could tell the house was exactly as advertised. It's very close to town, the Warren Dunes, the casino, and Redamack's... what else could you need? It looks small in the outside but the house is huge once you get inside.

Owner's Response: The pictures really don't show how large this house is. When vacationers arrive they are pleasantly surprised by the spacious rooms on three levels. It's central location is nice too. Thank you for your review.
