There is beautiful sightseeing by water as well as access to secluded beaches and quiet creeks. You will not find a more beautiful and serene place to stay anywhere.
Reminder for boating of any type. Always secure bow and stern when docking. Be aware of tide and current changes. Have enough life jackets and fresh water with you when you depart. Even experienced saltwater boaters get stranded on sandbars in unfamiliar areas and may have to wait for the incoming tide to get their boat moving again. Good idea to always be prepared for anything.
This property, now owned by two brothers Tom and Steve and their wives, has been in the Glenn-Mallard family for three generations. It is our goal to maintain this treasured spot for generations to come, as well as allow visitors, friends and family to share the beauty of the 25 foot Baisden Bluff, the ever changing Crescent River, and the stunning mash and inner barrier island panorama.
The Baisden Bluff House sits on one of the most unique pieces of property you will find. Our home and 'front yard' has a special character that comes from a combination of the same challenges and adventures encountered by the Guale Indians, Spanish Explorers, and various others who lived along these marshes in earlier years.
As the 3rd generation of the Glenn/Mallard Family to own this striking deep water propert, we hope to continue the dream and keep it in the family for following generations.
It is a pleasure to also share Baisden Bluff with our visitors so that you also experience the awe of nature at it's finest that we are so attached to.
The Baisden Bluff House faces east for extraordinary sunrises over the deep water Crescent River, our private dock offers all the privacy and amenities you could want and allows fishermen easy access to many waterways in which to fish.
Those not heading out will find peace and relaxation by sitting in the swing on the river or under the fans on the dock and porch. Beauty comes directly to you in the form of birds, dolphin and the color changes of the mash grass.
We had a BLAST – definitely want to come back again. The house/property was absolutely perfect. We especially loved:
· Dock – with facilities (funnel – great idea)
· Shower – nasty/fishy men – nice to wash off before going to the house
· Privacy – only saw a couple other humans all week.
· Basic supplies in the house – spices, foil etc. We men always forget a few things – so that saved us some trips to Darien
· Extra kayak – needed one for a guy that did not have his own….
· Comfortable, clean furnishings – PLENTY of room for the 5 of us
Although it was wonderful AS IS, a few suggestions:
· More outdoor lighting in the backyard. We wanted to play some “corn hole” – just not enough lights
· Ice machine would be AWESOME to have.
Thanks again. We will likely be back next July 4th ----- and, possibly even before that during the fall. I have already highly recommended your place to several people – and took 1000 pictures! Thank you for making your property available.
I have now visited the Bluff House 4 times. I have enjoyed it every time I have been. The views and tranquility here are incredible. I really enjoy the crabbing and fishing. The house has always included everything we needed and has been very clean and comfortable. I would not hesitate to recommend the Bluff House to anyone.
We had an amazing time at Bluff house. Thank you so very much for all the considerations that went into this rental. as soon as you walk in you feel welcomed. The house was well kept and had everything we needed during our stay. Everything that we read about online of the description of the house and property was very accurate. The outside of the property was also well maintained. Everything that we expected and then some. Our family can not wait to come back again. We were able to enjoy many new experiences. It is such a great place to visit. The views were amazing the house was inviting everything was put together nicely. the little details in the notes left by the owners as well as previous renters were very helpful. I highly recommend Driftwood Beach. It is very beautiful piece of land. Dont forget to plan on Kayaking if you visit here. The two Kayaks they provide are well maintained and easy to use our kids had a blast out on the river with them. Thank you again for opening up your home. From all of us in the Baker family
Much care has been taken to anticipate everyones need. nice property!
We recently rented this home for a long weekend to celebrate a girl's only getaway. It was even better than we anticipated. The Glenn home has absolutely everything you can think of .... the kitchen is fully stocked ... the linens are top quality .... the cleaning supplies are provided .... the crabbing nets are great ... the firewood is ready for the fire pit ... seriously this place has everything! They have gone above and beyond to make visitors feel at home. The house sits back far enough from the street to make you feel at one with Mother Nature. The screened in back porch is huge and has plenty of room for meals and games if you want to enjoy the outdoors without literally being outdoors --- amazing cross breezes keep it very comfortable. The dock is awesome - three levels with a covered area to sit and chill and watch the hours go by. There is also a sink for cleaning the seafood. The house itself has plenty of room for everyone to feel like they have their own space. It is filled with family memorabilia and sentimental touches from days gone by. The Glenn family has clearly spent many years of love in this house. There are plenty of techie treats too - flat screened TVs and WiFi for those who cannot leave it behind. I would highly recommend hopping the ferry over to Sapelo Island as well - wonderful day trip - and the ferry is right around the corner. We took a drive down to Darien and bought fresh shrimp right off the boats - deeeeelicious!!!! We also caught plenty of crab off the dock as well. We hated to leave ... and will definitely return! Many thanks to the Glenn family for sharing this amazing retreat.
Caught lots of crabs using the traps and a few keeper fish off the dock. I will definitely bring a boat next time. The covered dock space was great to sit under with the fan going.
We loved our stay!!! We were comfortable as soon as we walked in. The house was stocked with everything we needed and the views were to die for!!!
The main attractions and most beautiful views are found by staying right at the Bluff House. We have a lovely 3 level dock on deep-water, complete with table and chairs, fan, lights, sink and propane cookers. Beautiful location for fishing or sun bathing with outdoor shower. The Baisden Bluff House is located approx. 45 miles south of Savannah, GA, 12 miles north of Historic Darien, GA and 25 miles north of Brunswick, GA. Minutes from Brunswick, you can visit Georgia’s beautifully established islands. Go to Jekyll Island and enjoy its beaches and the Water Park or enjoy the many restaurants, shopping, and the pier on St. Simon's Island. All of these areas are full of historical sites and landmarks. In nearby Darien, definitely visit Fort King George, shop for local art or antiques, dine at Skippers on the waterfront or schedule a guided wilderness adventure with Danny at Altamaha Coastal Tours. Darien also has an outlet mall at I95 exit. For more shopping you may wish to travel to Brunswick or Savannah. Both cities have all the major shopping stores as well as Historic tours. An outstanding adventure that we highly recommend is catching the ferry over to Sapelo Island for a guided tour highlighting the African-American community of Hog Hammock, Reynolds Mansion, Nanny Goat Beach, University of Georgia Marine Institute and the restored 1820 lighthouse. Sapelo Hammock Golf Club is only 10 miles away for the avid golfer. We have endless options for those who want to explore as well as those who want to relax.
Some great restaurants around Darien, try Mud Cat's for great sea food on the water or B & J's for delicious sea food at a great price and less atmosphere.
There is a Piggly Wiggly grocery store in Eulonia and a larger Bi-Lo in Darien.
