Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 Full Bath, Restored and Renovated

Have to love this place.

First the basics:

2 bedrooms each with Queen beds. Each bedroom has it's own full bath.

Den on 2nd floor with flat-screen TV and Full sleeper sofa.

Tucked in beautiful Capitol Hill, this restored Victorian has been painstakingly worked over every inch! Ground floor offers great seating space and a well updated eat in kitchen. There is even a heated/ air conditioned glassed -in back porch in which to enjoy your morning coffee year round, along with views of the other historic homes in the neighborhood.

The second floor features a master bedroom suite with private powder room. There is a unique shower in the hall that is original to the house's roots as a boarding house. There is a library/entertainment sitting area between the master suite and the second suite with a private full powder room. This entertainment area features a full size sleeper sofa. The second suite also has a heated/ air conditioned glassed- in upper porch with more views of the other historic homes in the neighborhood.

This renovated century old Victorian town house located in the historic district of Capitol Hill, in a well established and friendly neighborhood just off Lincoln Park, is within easy walking distance of the US Capitol, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, Congressional Buildings, the Eastern Market and Union Station Metrorail (subway) stops and attractions, and it is one block from the City Bus lines. From the Capitol, it is about a ten to fifteen minutes walk to reach the Smithsonian Mall and its Museums. This downtown neighborhood location, convenient to the monuments, memorials, and museums, as well as to government and business, is equally appealing to the tourist and to the business traveler.

The historic neighborhood is home to Eastern Market, which is a landmark in itself and has been operating for over 100 years. There are second and third generation family operated open food stalls inside and on the weekends it has an outdoor flea and antique market, a farmers market, and an arts and crafts market. Capitol Hill with its town homes with flower filled front yards, and its tree-lined streets with interesting and unique shops and neighborhood café and restaurants, offers a friendly, small town flavor and atmosphere, yet it is right in the heart of downtown, Washington, DC.

Property was exactly as listed. Loved the antique decor.

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful location and neighborhood. The neighbors we met were very friendly. Great eating places within easy walking distance. Also walked to the metro and found our way around without a problem. Nice and quiet so slept well on the very comfortable bed. As you can tell we highly recommend the property.

Magical stay that felt like home

  • 5 of 5

It was a wonderful experience. Everywhere you turned there was another quirky antique to look at. The beds were really comfortable and there were plenty of towels. The washer and dryer on the second floor were great too, modern and easy to use. The location and neighborhood were ideal.

Quirky antique charm

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved our stay in D.C. The house was perfect for us. It is an easy walk to the metro and all the restaurants and shops by the Eastern Market. The beds and even the antique chairs and couches were very comfortable. The house is a little crowded with extra furniture, but it was fun discovering the houses' treasures. There are stained glass windows, nick-knacks, and bits of history all over. Our younger boys spent time one morning just counting the mirrors (they found 57). The back parking is very tight and a little tricky to find at first. We have a Dodge Gran Caravan and had to get the angles just right to get out again. Smaller vehicles shouldn't have a problem. Overall it was a great find. We would definitely stay here again.

Great location very comfortable

  • 5 of 5

House is in a good location. 5 minute walk to eastern market

Kitchen was welll stocked with everything to cook with

Home was very comfortable. We loved all the antiques. NIce to have air conditioning after the 90 degree weather. Uber was $10 or less to most locations. We stay in VRBO locations a lot and this is our favorite out of all the places we have stayed. Will stay again next time we are in DC

Exceptionally Delighted

  • 5 of 5

By this vintage and extraordinarily well-stocked townhome, is located ten minutes from Safeway and Harris-Teeter, two Metro stops (Potomac and Eastern Market) and the Eastern Market. And, if you want to go to the Capital and sites further west) Uber rides started at $5.52 and topped out at $14.00, to Georgetown. Access is fantastic and street parking, as well as on-site parking, is available.

For daily living, this It has everything you need for an extended stay in Washington. Dishes, pots and pans, and virtually every kitchen gizmo and appliance known to man. Everything works well.

For creature comforts, air conditioning, porches, an office, two bedrooms, a wonderful den fully stocked with an incredible library (upstairs) and, down, a living room, dining room that seated 12, kitchen with pantry, half bath, porch and breakfast area. Amazing living space. You won't feel cramped and crowded.

We were a party of four adults, and the spaciousness meant the two couples were never in each other's way. What could be better.

I've tried in this review to augment the other reviews. Put them all together and I'm certain you'll conclude this is a wonderful selection and, once you've finished your stay, you made the right choice.
